New to Me Games: Hokito on BGA
More abstract strategy games for the abstract strategy game gods!! 😂😂
I discovered this one while browsing BGA earlier in the week last week and learned it and played it only once so far—but I’d love to play it again! I played against another beginner and won actually, which was pretty exciting for me.
It’s kind of like “mega checkers” in my mind, but also not? 😂 you’re stacking pieces into piles and trying to score based on how tall the piles you control are—if you control a pile with a one piece on top, you score x1 based on how tall it is, a two piece on top x2, and a three piece on top x3.
I got a pile that was almost twenty pieces tall with x3 scoring, which was actually how I won. Control over that pile went back and forth for a bit actually—the back and forth made it an entertaining game!
I’m actually interested just from this first game alone in picking up a physical copy of this game—I feel like having a physical copy would help me get a better feel for the strategy behind the game, but I’m fine with the digital version for now!
I really hope to play this one more. It’s simple, and yet SO fun!
