The Lego Harry Potter sets released to tie in with The Prisoner of Azkaban in 2004. This was the year introduced flesh-toned heads to minifigures in licenced themes. I can remember seeing these sets advertised in the Argos catalogue and I actually had one of these sets; the Knight Bus, which my late grandad got for me as a 12th birthday present. Notice that we got not one but two Hogwarts Expresses as part of this wave. There was a standard version and a deluxe motorised version. The latter has become something of a holy grail to collectors. They're extremely difficult to come by nowadays and go for quite a lot of money.

The original line up of Lego Harry Potter sets released to tie in with The Philosopher's Stone in 2001/2. I can remember seeing these advertised in catalogues and the Lego Club magazine back in the day. I never had any of these sets at the time, but years later I got the Hogwarts Express from Comic-Con. It's interesting to look back at this initial line-up. The Hogwarts sets were interesting in that they were designed so that you could put them all together and make a deluxe Hogwarts. Several of the sets released to tie in with The Chamber of Secrets continued that trend and will be looked at in a later post. Does anyone else remember these sets?
