look ok this is gonna be a little personal so i might put it under a cut but
the thing the thing the THING that destroys me about RueHob. More than everything else about them I mean. The THING that made me burst out ugly crying like Emma Thompson as Elinor at the end of Sense and Sensibility is that they really made me think it wasn't going to happen. That there could be a world in which they didn't choose each other. And Elinor cries like she does because the sudden realization that love can happen for her and it is happening hits her so fucking hard, right? And so if I hadn't had my good speakers up so high I would barely have been able to hear Brennan's heartbursting speech for the volume of my sobs because Hob did it, he finally finally finally felt able to choose his own happiness and choose it with Rue, and he said all that without knowing for certain if they would accept him. But they did, because of course they did, because who in Rue's position would not?!
And these two can have what I once thought I could have. What it turns out I couldn't manage to keep. What it turns out I'm pretty sure I might never be able to get again.
