#107 Hitmonchan!

Team Rocket is all over Saffron City.

They're even blocking the way into the Saffron Gym. I guess we'll have to find a way to deal with them before we can challenge our next gym leader.

But what's that other gym-looking building right next door?

Oops. Well, they seem eager enough to fight at least.

The head of the Dojo, Black Belt Koichi, brings only a Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee to this fight. As fighting-type Pokemon, they're a piece of cake for Gale, my flying-type Pidgeotto, and Mimien, my traded psychic-type Mr. Mime.

As our prize, we're gifted a choice of Pokemon between Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee. It's a good idea to coordinate your pick with a friend, because this is the only place either of these Pokemon can be found.

I choose a Hitmonlee semi-randomly. I can't say that I particularly like either of them. Generally I find the designs of fighting-type Pokemon a bit uninspired. And these two are further down uncanny valley for me than Mr. Mime.
