" Can I hug you? " // @hisseptember
It is not the blood September’s presence leaves behind that surprises Sunshine, or how she sees only the darkest storms in their eyes, though it is the question they asked that made her heart ache— be reminded that even while surrounded by the many corpses and phantoms, there will always be loneliness somewhere in the existence that needs to be held. [ For a moment, Sunshine sees himself in September: All bloody and bruised, yet own shaky arms still reach out for anyone to notice and take them with all of their sharp parts, only for the sun to look away and the stars go out, the world just closes its eyes. ] Sunshine takes a deep breath and, not once breaking eye contact with September, replies in a gentle tone, “ Al- al- always. ” You can hold me always. The word weakly echoes across his mind as he holds his arms out to them, their trembling form, his gaze soft and sympathetic. “ Always, ” she repeats, and this, she means it as a promise, before she brings September closer to her and embraces them with all of their sharp parts. Despite the blood finding home in his clothes, the harsh remembering of his own falling that burns his atoms and cells, he still holds September, more of their pain until it fades at least a bit. Make me be more ruined if it means you can breathe better again.
