Ok, just found out from my younger brother that CTE classes like Graphic Design are being removed from HISD, and this is concerning because this is limiting the career paths (especially since the CTE classes gave me a degree/certification before I went to college that would prove my credibility), and it feels like we are going backwards in development since art is typically a sign of a successful economy able to indulge.

I grew up under HISD, and let me just say, Mike Miles is a fucking asshole we didn’t want! We voted for our school board, and this dick was not in the ballads! He keeps cutting programs to keep the schools running, when he has used the money to run a play about himself, buy an armored car, and send money to a private school in Colorado (fun fact: Houston is in FUCKING TEXAS!)

God, I still remember those shitty metal detectors they put in the last year I was there, and I had to take out an umbrella, water bottle and the school assigned laptop to get passed there, and I, little miss show up ten minutes early, would have been late if the school wasn’t lenient about it being the first day.

Oh! And the AC broke twice at around the same time! The first time was in 2024, the AC was not working and the principal let us go home before lunch to fix it. The second time was in 2025 where the teachers were looking at me like “why the fuck are you still here?” I swear to god, in economics class (the 2nd or 4th class of the day (depending on the day of the week)), me and one other guy were the only people there, when the class usually holds about 20 people. It took an email during lunch time for the school to let us out. Quick reminder, this is in fucking Texas during the May June cusp!

And all this is on top of the censorship sort of happening over there, with the most concerning being when my brother had to sign a form to read a book about WWII. It’s sort of like the sex ed lesson where if you don’t learn about it, it can lead into situations that should of been avoided.
