#throwbackthirsday Not sure how much is left of the Hingham Annex, it’s been a few years since we explored it. I heard it may have been demolished. I do know that I’ve lost my V66 shirt since then and that’s a whole nother sadness. . During World War 2 the #HinghamAnnex was the main ammunition supplier for Naval Forces of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Depth charges, bombs, and rocket motors were all assembled at the Annex up until 1962. The buildings pictured here were (or are) about a 20 minute walk from Wompatuck on an unmarked trail leading to an old rail line. . Bunker “N9” seen in the first picture used to store anti-submarine nuclear warheads during the Cold War, but it was locked so I couldn’t check if they left any behind. #urbex #urbanexploration #abandonedplaces #coldwarhistory #ww2 #igersmass #massachusetts_igers #tbt (at Hingham Naval Ammunition Depot Annex) https://www.instagram.com/p/CALJBOBFaE6/?igshid=1knuza01ziv28
