hi!! i’m so happy to hear from you, it’s been a while!

i’m doing pretty well actually! i started university and completed my first semester! spring semester starts in two days, and i just picked up my books—i had to get eleven books from the campus store! i’m studying literature and philosophy, primarily, so i expected a lot of reading, but it does make me a bit nervous to have so much work to do

school has definitely helped me a lot socially—i’ve made some really great friends, including my new partner of about five months! i really like living on my own. i’ve moved out before, for a few months at a time, but this is the first time i’ve fully lived under my own control. honestly, it feels great and im really happy here :)

of all time would be too hard, so the ones i've watched recently it is! (in no particular order)

perfect days - this movie... it was such a lovely exprience! i could watch Hirayama-san go about his life for 10 more hours, i'm so serious. i really like movies that are simply following character's life, so it was perfect (hehe) for me. and the cinematography and music are amazing! highly recommend <3

knight of fortune - it's a short feature that was nominated for an oscar and it's SO GOOD! it's bittersweet, it's funny, it's filmed in a simple way and it feels very fresh. definitely worth those 25 minutes! i had such a good time watching this.

sometimes i think about dying - listen. LISTEN! this one is for boring girls who fantasize about death sometimes and if you get you get it! it's touching and relatable but in ways i wouldn't really expect!

20 000 species of bees - saw this one last week and ooof. i don't really know what to say about this one? it's very intimate imo and it makes you feel very involved in what's going on. didn't sob only bc we were watching it with film club and i don't want people at film club to see me cry al;fdhkjdahfsda oh and it has some incredible child acting

also the blog title sooo true poulenc is so good he's written one of my absolute favourite violin sonatas

And Poulenc writes great sonatas in general, both his cello and clarinet sonatas are excellent. He really understands how to bring out the interesting and unique colors of every instrument. His concert champêtre is another really great example of his really deep orchestral and technical understanding of music. It’s a concerto featuring a harpsichord with allusions to baroque music.
