yknow I used to have this super long elaborate post with manga pages and MMR tweets as evidence but then I took a LONG break (this was sent in 2025 LMAO) and have officially grown tired of trying to explain that hgsn is not a yaoi so here's the TL;DR of that post:

Yoshiki is not in love with "Hikaru". He states that in the manga multiple times to both "Hikaru" and Asako.

"Hikaru" is not in love with Yoshiki and if anything the closest to a human label for him is probably aro ace (shout out MMR for making that tweet GIRL I SEE YOU😭✊✊)

I personally don't really care for "Hikaru" 🤷 I think a lot of ppl interpret him as queer which makes sense w the themes of the story but I think the whole point of his character is that it is not human and trying to apply human labels to it is never going to work (Yoshiki trying to pretend he's Hikaru in the first arc for example). So in that sense "Hikaru" is queer.

BUT YEAH AGAIN HGSN IS NOT A YAOI CALLING IT A YAOI IS ACTUALLY LOWKEY HOMOPHOBIC BUT I KNEO THIS IS A LOSING BATTLE ENJOY YOUR YOSHIKARU EVEN IF IT GOES AGAINST THE ENTIRE FUCKING STORY AND EMSSAGE AND CHARACTERS IG😭✊😭✊

BRUH WHY DO THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME LOL. THERE IS A DEFAULT 'ANIME GAYBOY' DESIGN NOW WE ARE WINNING OVER THE ISEKAI ANIMES!!!!!!!!

how dare you compare objectively best boy Tasukun with those two other guys >>:((( But yeah jokes aside I think the reason him and Yoshiki are similar looking is because they're supposed to be avarage as a way to sprinkle in even more the message that gay people are, in fact, normal.

Of course "Hikaru" would be staring at Yoshiki, like that as well. Poor Yoshiki is melting (many people feel him at this time period). Also, I love "Hikaru"'s outfit!

These small but important Yoshikaru moments we've been getting lately are simply lovely!

From Yoshiki amusingly stuttering when remembering "Hikaru" showing him his insides

to Yoshiki confidently yet warmly expressing his decision to go with "Hikaru" in that huge hole, explaining it's due to his fear of losing his entity, looking all dead serious. And "Hikaru" blushing slightly at the warm drizzle of love he just received by his favourite human. He looks in awe, and grateful at the same time for the amount of love he's been so rightfully receiving lately by his loved ones.

Yoshiki does keep his word: He will be with "Hikaru" no matter where he goes.

Just as many of us thought, Yuki has already noticed and known deep within this Hikaru is different from her son, and it's natural for her to struggle to conceptualise and accept it, but I'm so glad she poured her love for this Hikaru and told him he's also her son. "Hikaru" feels so bad and guilty for "fooling her", as he said, for taking her son's place and even ruining his body (even though the average person can't see it). :( His sad smile shows such... Surrender. Along with him simply turning to leave due to maybe thinking he's not worth being there. He was so affected by her affectionate words that he started crying and his eyes started wobbling. :( Belonging is all he's ever longed for.
