I strongly deslike how they drew Hijikata for this particular merchandise series (*gestures to my main blog if you want to read the rant*), but that doesn't mean I can't have fun with it. In fact, it maks me want to draw him all the more.

22.04 - Happy HijiChi day! 🌸👹

You know how you will often find people drawing reports after attending live events with some of their favourite or most memorable scenes? I tried to do so after watching Live 4, except it took me 4 months to draw these (part 2 is coming eventually).

As a Hijikata fan, and a Chizuru fan, and a HijiChi fan, I don't think I could've wished for a better duo than Kubota and Ruri to portray them. They have so much chemistry that everything they do on stage feels very natural. I laughed a lot with their shenanigans... and even though I didn't see Sen's Counselling room live (I didn't get to see it until after coming back from the final)-- What do you mean girl's dream is that she wants to hold hands with her man?

It's already the 22nd in Japan, the Blu-ray of Musical Hakuouki ~ HAKU-MYU LIVE 4 has been officially released! It really is the end of an era now that the three leads are leaving. I really wanted to commemorate the occasion, so I drew the picture of the three leads and their Chizuru's that the official HakuMyu twitter posted at the end of the L4 run.

It was a lot of fun to be able to run with them these past three years. I'm going to miss them terribly, but I'm also excited what the future will bring. It's after all the dawn of a new generation.

I have mixed feelings about drawing them with Rasetsu hair when things are supposed to happy, so I drew their regular hair colour. I did my best to draw the three Chizuru's distinctly different, but Ruri's my default Chizuru... because, you know.

Could keep adding to this, but since this is a warm-up to get back into the groove of painting, I consider it finished. March 27th is sakura day, and I felt inspired.

After seeing Ruri in a super cute cat-themed kimono, I wanted to draw Chizuru wearing it, and with Kubota looking so good in his Hagi-play kimono, I drew her with Hijikata wearing those clothes.

It's been a while since I drew normal-sized humans, but it was mostly a fun exercise to draw the clothes. No story here, just power couple looking good together.

A bit later than usual, since neither the end of 2025 nor the beginning of 2026 worked out as I had anticipated. The start of the year has been tumultuous already, but I still hope that this year -somehow- turns out to be kind to all of us.
