So What Happened?

Keith went to prom with the incredible, wonderful, beautiful Rachel Gezer and had an absolutely marvellous time! They laughed, they danced, they made heart eyes at each other all night (of course Keith didn't think anything of her brief dance with his brother Joey Salvatore, why would he?). Besides, the rumour at prom was Joey and Isabel Valentine were in love!?

Prom was magical but the next day? The news broke that Lana Anderson's big sister and her husband (Leo) had been killed in the woods on prom night! WTF was going!? The official story was it was an 'accident', but Keith just has a feeling... Plus, Joey is being really weird ever since he went to see Isabel. Keith would later learn just what happened with Juliette.

In between prom and Founders Fest, Keith finds out that Rachel is a witch. His previously altered memories about the night they got into an accident and she used magic to save him, started coming back. Keith put the pieces together from one weird thing after another, along with clues she left behind. Of course, he doesn't care-- he already knew she was magic!

Founders Festival happens-- before everything went wrong, he and Rachel had been having a very sweet date, he won her a stuffed animal and everything. Rachel kept him safe, again. Saved his life, again. When Joey found them, they held onto each other's hands and didn't let go.

From that day on, Joey and Keith got it together. The Salvatore Brothers were back in town! All the animosity from before didn't matter, you know? They were family. Mrs Salvatore (Keith's mom) also had the new baby, so they have her to look after too.

In between all this, they also find out that Robyn Manning is the biological child of Mr Salvatore and therefore another sibling for the team! Any more and they'll be able to start a band (much like the one Mr Salvatore use to be in).

Living in Domesdale took its toll on everyone in different ways. It didn’t happen all at once, but Joey, Keith and Rachel became a little vigilante team, hitting the streets after curfew to keep people safe and take smaller stabs at the Bad GuysTM. It's been a true wonder sometimes that they’re still alive! Taking it more and more seriously, the gang have had some training at il Piacere and Rachel's been training with Ivy.

They got caught one night by a fellow masked vigilante (a real badass!), who turned out to be Robyn Manning! At first, Robyn was furious at them for getting themselves in harm's way. Reluctantly, she helped to train them all up.

Keith now knows what happened with BFF Bree Burton-- she had been attacked by vampires. He knows that bestie Jamie McArthur is a shifter-- he also listens to the Hunted in Domesdale podcast (by Jamie and Annie Porter) every week and has even guest starred! Landon Callaghan and Yvonne DeLisle are also a part of their #BFF squad.

Most importantly, for the past three years, Keith and Rachel have been officially dating <3 Keith thinks the world of her; she's definitely gonna be his forever girl. Note: Keith also likes Isabel (for Joey too), she’s always nice to him!

So What Happened?

On prom night, Simon had finally plucked up the courage to ask out lifelong crush Eleanor Prescott. He'd been dancing around the idea for a while before, making up reasons to stop by to see her. He was going to do something special for her-- it was going to be the best first date ever. When he knocked on the door, he hadn't expected it to open. He definitely hadn't expected to find Evelyn Prescott passed out on the ground.

He scooped Evelyn up in his arms and ran faster than he ever had in his life to Havensdale General. Thankfully, everything worked out. He was there for Eleanor as well, holding her hand while she waited. Eventually, Simon had a moment with her again. He rambled on about asking her out and how much he liked her and, well, she said no.

Admittedly feeling a little sorry for himself, instead of going to Founders Festival (where he would have taken Eleanor), he answered a call from work. He said 'no problem' to coming into the office in New Haven on his day off, and left. He didn't think to leave a note or text anyone. He had no idea what was about to happen.

So, yeah, while Simon was at work, Havensdale fell apart and his family can only hope that he wasn't a casualty of Founders Festival. Since he was outside the dome, Engel's magic took hold and erased his memories of Havensdale. Taking it one step further, Engel gave Simon a new life. A happy life; a gorgeous fiancé (hello Henry Sinclair), a beautiful kid and a worthwhile job.

Recently, however, he's started having some strange dreams. Dreams of a family he's never known, in a town he's never been to, and a girl with the most incredible eyes...

So Who Is She? What Happened?

Sister to one notorious vampire- Charlie Emerson- Cecelia Emerson shares his same dark and twisted past. They were both born into 'not having a very good time right now' and for Cece, it never got much better than that in her human life.

She had an abusive father and a mother that wasn't much better. Mother made it her life's mission to keep Charlie and Cece apart, but Cece was the only person he ever really cared about: not including Chris Andrews.

For all her life, she was sheltered underneath the proverbial floorboards (Mother Knows Best.mp3). And then... in a shock, horror! Their father commits suicide. Well, that was the official story anyway, but it didn't take long for the rumour to spread that Charlie had killed him (and he had).

Cece wasn't shedding any tears. The scandal however was too much for Mother to bear! The drinking became worse and worse. Charlie couldn't deal with it, so he was out as much as possible. And Chris- her sweet Chris- wasn't around so much.

1920s in their hometown, Chicago, the next tragedy to strike happens. The Andrews family home burns to the ground with Corey, Alex and Chris Andrews inside. It is the single most devastating day of Cece's life. And Charlie's who can no longer stand to be there for her anymore.

Without anyone around, the abuse was solely directed towards Cece at home. She wasn't brave enough to run yet, but she did sneak out and try to live her life to the fullest. Meanwhile, Charles was a mess, but who could blame him?

Then one fateful night, she sees the should-be-dead Chris Andrews in the flesh and what the hell!? He's alive!? They had a sweet exchange, but Chris ended up feeding her his blood and compelling her to forget the interaction. So, she goes about her night and brings some boy home, literally just to piss off her mom.

Pissed her off too much. Was murdered.

The first person Charlie killed as a vampire was Esther - their Mother. He had planned to go home, kill his mom, then take his sister away from that awful place. But soon after brutally murdering his mother, he found Cecelia’s body in the basement.

He buried her under a tree in Graceland Cemetery. In a way, he was glad that she finally had her freedom, but it tore him apart that he hadn’t known his mother had killed her. If he had, he would have made the woman suffer all the more for it.

Charlie's want for Mother to suffer is probably what caused him to torment his victims. Because of her, he doesn’t rush deaths anymore. He draws them out and makes them last as long as possible.

Back to Cece, cue the Plot Twist: she wakes up in her grave!! She suddenly remembers what happened with Chris-- he was a vampire and he fed her his blood. She died with his blood in her system. Cece returned home from the grave, saw her dead mommy, tried to find Chris again. Then she caused absolute carnage as a newbie for a few days... Until The Institute nabbed her.

Cece has been a prisoner- has never been free- since 1930... Until now.

So What Happened?

The notorious Vivian Vandeviere, known for burning cities to the ground and leaving massacres in her wake, thought coming to Havensdale Valley was going to be fun. And sure, for a while, it was. Vivian let herself get caught up in the small town feeling, let herself get caught up in feeling, truth be told. She should have known better.

When Vivian was asked to prom of all things by Scott Smith, she accepted. It was sweet, you know? Nostalgic. It spoke to another life, another time. It was possibility and hope. She never should have let him string her along or dance with her that night. Little did Vivian know (until it was too late), Scott had been recruited by the Institute for a very special mission: the capture of their ‘most wanted’ vampire.

Vivian’s humanity got the better of her for the briefest of moments. She almost had a feeling... And then, in that moment of fleeting vulnerability, they got her. The Institute captured Vivian before the dome came down and dumped her in the deepest, darkest, most top secret cage that they had. While the rest of the world was on fire, while the rest of the Institutes fell, Vivian remained caged deep underground in the Mojave Desert.

It gave her a lot of time to think. To make a list of every damn person involved and how she was going to tear them apart limb from limb. There was a brief, frustrating moment where she forgot Havensdale as the dome came down, but apparently Engel thought it would be funny to let her stew in rage and returned her memories. The only other person she really spoke with was in the neighbouring cell-- a lost little girl who made her heart ache for the daughter she once had. Little did she know, that little girl was Grayson Lambert in shifter disguise. This would be important for later.

So yeah, things were not looking good. The days, months, years (it could have been centuries for all she knew) dragged on. It was obvious something bad had happened at the Institute on a global scale, but this damned place was still manned. The cages were still locked. Then one night... the alarms blared and the cages opened. The last person that Vivian ever expected to see come to her rescue was Ruby McReid (now a vampire!?) and what’s more, she was with her sister, Verity Vandeviere.

There was hardly time to argue, but Vivian made sure to rescue her little friend (Grayson in disguise!) as they fled the crumbling hellhole. The moment they were back in the sun, Ruby McReid turned on her. She just saved her life, but made it clear that if they ever crossed paths again, Ruby would kill her. Ha!

Vivian didn’t care though. No, Vivian didn’t care about anything except her revenge. She was going to make it rain blood in Havensdale Valley. She was going to rip Scott Smith’s heart out and crush it in front of him. They all have to be destroyed, everyone who was in on the plan to kidnap her. Vivian would not be stopped-- Verity couldn’t talk her out of it. Vivian only craved her revenge.

Furiously biding her time until the dome comes down. She is seething, she is enraged, she is embarrassed!!

So What Happened?

Let's take it a step back to the Montgomery/Vanderbilt 'Disaster DinnerTM' which was a lot. The drama was intense and at the end of the night, three Montgomery women had exited and never returned. At least, not that Duke saw because he- even though Andy told him not to- accepted a scotch from Mr Montgomery (he just kept refilling his glass). Needless to say, Duke ended up vomiting on the expensive rug and passing out on the sofa. Andy had never loved him more.

In all seriousness, that dinner really did cement what would become Duke and Andy's romantic relationship. They were both busy hanging out with each other when prom night happened. And when that freak rainstorm hit? Would you believe they had their first real kiss in it?

After dancing around it for so long, after becoming real friends, it just made sense to Duke to dive all in with her. On the day of the Founders Festival, he invited Andy to 'family day' with him and his children, Landon and Ashley. They were having fun, eating cotton candy, winning stuffed animals and judging the 'Miss Havensdale' pageant. Then it all went horribly wrong.

Duke was just another shocked, terrified, human in Havensdale Valley that day trying to keep his family safe and alive. Thankfully, everyone got out of there okay, but what the hell?! Of course, it wasn't over... Soon after, the Montgomerys lost their home to the Bad GuysTM and Andy moved in with Duke (and his kids). It was so not a normal situation, but they kept it together (mostly!!).

Later, Ava Montgomery would find out that Andy was her biological mom. Duke held Andy as she cried and confessed how everything had happened to him. They faced it together, no matter how messy. No matter how much "Gorgeous" George Weston being the father gave Duke the forever ick (remember George is who his ex-wife Paige Vanderbilt cheated on him with!). Duke has been a real part of the extended Montgomery family, as much as Andy has tried to be with Landon and Ashley.

Meanwhile, once things had somewhat calmed down, Duke continued to run his dental practice. He's been trying to acclimatise to the current, ah, supernatural-ness of this place. He's running 2-for-1 deals for vampires (for your regular teeth and your fangs!) and workshopping dental sticks for werewolves; Are there witchy potions he could use to help whiten teeth? He has to know! Duke has his marketing brain on in these trying times!

A member of a parent support group in Havensdale for dealing with living in #Domesdale. He's well and truly a Havensdaler now, looking out for his neighbours and friends (including new bestie Ellie Prescott).

Bear in mind, Duke is human and this place is constantly on fire (metaphorically). He is doing his best to keep it together, but is 200% screaming on the inside!!!

So What Happened?

Alright, it’s time to let the cat out of the bag. Nathan Matthews didn’t really ‘put a pin the map’ and happen up Havensdale Valley, Connecticut to build his new restaurant. No, Nathan had been researching Havensdale before he ever showed up on our doorstep. At first, it was strange, overheard, conversations in his New York locations. Then it was unbelievable and fantastical rumours. Slowly, surely and piece by piece, Nathan put the story together.

Something big, something supernatural, was going to happen in that town and Nathan had decided he was going to be a part of it. More seriously, a part of defending it. No, he didn’t have the details and he didn’t have an exact date, but if he’d learned one thing, it was to be prepared. Unbeknown to his customers, hidden in every nook and cranny of il Piacere were weapons to defend against supernaturals.

Having grown up in a lavish lifestyle, Nathan had trained in various combat styles, archery, fencing, horseback riding and more. In a way, he’d been trained like any bloodline hunter might have been-- just a little fancier. In the end, it was a good thing that he was. When Founder’s Day hit, Nathan knew that he had to fight.

Here’s the thing... The good guys don’t always win, right away. Those who survived had to adapt. It didn’t long for Nathan to hook up with the underground Resistance, using his refurbished, reinforced basement to help train recruits. More importantly, training humans on how to defend themselves against the supernatural. He does all he can to help the fight while keeping everyone’s heads on their shoulders.

Nathan Matthews will take risks, he’ll cause trouble and he’s not afraid to get a little bloody now for the cause. 100% ready to rumble!!

So What Happened?

Thomas had always been a loner, a rolling stone, a 'mind-your-own-fucking-business' kinda scowler. Sure, in his heart of hearts, he has always yearned for a place to belong-- for a real family who would love him like his own couldn't (or wouldn't).

Prone to running from anything real, he'd never found a place to stick around before. Not when the Belhavens fostered him, not when he met Amber and felt like there was a chance. Thomas always runs and he always ruins his own chances at happiness. It's just how it is.

Out on his own at eighteen, being bitten by Frederick Bellefonte might as well have been the best thing that ever happened to him. He was slow to trust, but knew an opportunity when he saw one. Plus, being a werewolf? He felt powerful for the first time in his life. He felt like he had the upper hand and admittedly, he wasn't opposed to being a little cruel.

When D-Day (Founders Festival) finally hit, Thomas let out a sigh of relief. He was a part of something. He was taken fully under Frederick's wing and to this day, he's the closest thing to a father he's ever had. The one who chose him, cared about him, gave him a new life. Thomas is 100% loyal to him and this cause.

So when the idea was floated around that someone might try and infiltrate Lily Khaldun's pack, Thomas volunteered. It had been six months since the dome came down (roughly two-and-a-half years ago now). They really had to sell it, Frederick injuring Thomas before he ‘ran away’ to seek refuge from Lily who, of course, took him in.

It wasn't easy, though. Beth Morales' pack had joined forces with Lily's and they'd been hurt before (see: Drake). They were not prone to trusting some new guy who had been on the wrong side of the fight. Thomas more than had his work cut out for him. Here's the kicker, though... To get people to trust you- to love you- you have to let yourself feel it back.

Thomas was so hyper focused on the mission in the beginning, but over the past couple of years, he's softened. Here he is with a home, someone who treats him so kindly (like the mom he never really had). A pack of werewolves that could show him a different way. He is loyal to Frederick. He is.

But some days, he wonders if he made the right choice. Thomas has done some bad things in the past and if Lily and her pack- Beth and hers- ever found out the truth, he just knows they could never forgive him.

So What Happened?  

Jason Bennett was just living life, you know? Grappling with his own supernatural identity and the curse it brought with it. Never truly feeling safe from his Boogeyman uncle, who was prowling around the parameters of his life. Yeah, big, fun times.

Crashing Hailie and Dexter’s super romantic ride to prom was how it needed to be! Mainly because, you know, he couldn’t go with the one person in the whole of Havensdale he really wanted to go with. Jason’s been head over heels for Maddie Hannigan since they first locked eyes. He never meant to mess her around, playing hot and cold at every turn, he just wanted to keep her safe. Alive.

But damn it all, she was so beautiful that night that he had to ask her to dance... It was probably the best night of his life (at the time). Even the after party was pretty cool and for the first time in forever, Jason managed to relax. They all say that they never saw it coming, but Jason knew that something big was gonna happen. Something bad.

Jason had been investigating the weird shit that had been happening in Havensdale for a while before The Dome came down. If one thing had become clear to Jason, it was this one old ass tree was the key to everything. Or at least something! Jason started interning with his dad, doing what they could to keep Havensdale safe while he continued his own investigations.

Needless to say that Jason is following in his dad’s footsteps. He’s a broad shoulder to lean on, reliable and fiercely protective of his loved ones. Especially his now-official-girlfriend Maddie Hannigan. Jason is very high-strung and on alert all the time now, but who can blame him?

Jason was approached by Frederick Bellefonte with an offer of help with his uncle-- to put it politely, Jason refused. What he doesn’t know is that Sheriff Bennett didn’t. He made that deal with Frederick to ensure his murderous, good for nothing, sonuvabitch brother never stepped foot in Havensdale again...

Honourable mention to his #1 enemy Chris Andrews who he will fight at every given opportunity!
