[Jade knows it might be a weird day for Emilio (if he at some point, even remembers his birthday, that is). It’s the first one after dying, right? So she guesses it must be stirring some confusing feelings in him. She doesn’t want to make a big deal about it, but that won’t stop her from acknowledging it. (Dead people get flowers, they’re still remembered long after they’re gone, so why couldn’t the undead get the same treatment?). She decides against getting him any of his usual vices, she knows he’ll find a way to get them anyway. So she focused on things that might either make him laugh or annoy him. Either works. She delivers the bag personally, gives him a hug and leaves for work.

Inside the bag, Emilio will find a box with comfy slippers. She was tempted to buy him something dumb, like dog slippers or hairy feet slippers, but she does want him to use them eventually, so she opts for something more shoe like. She thinks the fluffy, warm, lining will make a compelling case for his usually cold self. There’s also a book with pictures and drawings of reptiles (including lizards!), for him to get more acquainted with them. There’s also a mole flavored cupcake, she hopes it’ll give him a little taste of home. A note is at the bottom of the bag, it reads: It was a good day to give presents, that’s all. I loved you before, I love you now, I’ll love you tomorrow. Thank you for never leaving my team.]

[ Everything about the gift is so Jade that he can’t help but smile about it. The slippers are tempting, and he puts them on even though they’re not good kicking shoes. He’s got a new knife from Talia, he’ll be fine without being able to kick people. He’s a little confused by the book about lizards, who are famously not animals, but he flips through it anyway and nods at the pictures. He probably takes a picture of the alligator to send to Wyatt in his version of a “this you” message. The cupcake he genuinely enjoys, despite his usual distaste for anything fun.
