listening to hi-fi rn.. it’s awesome seeing elements of the darkskin manson/csj/veteran era pop up in this, like the vocal samples cutting in and out during the verses on shadows, random huge reverb hits on hi-fi, and somewhat creepy slowed vocal chops on fancy. it’s really interesting bc you still hear some of his staple shit like the quick ride cymbals all over joechillworld and trep mixed in with it. some of the tracks even remind me of some of jules watts' sample flips, and weirdly enough lil b, with the way the samples are low quality and compressed.. makes me think of the weird way god's father was mixed where you can hear the volume automation kicking in and shit lol. id like to imagine if this album picks up enough traction it might inspire other artists to republished their old unreleased hits. i could totally imagine childish gambino doing some surprise release with a bunch of his old shit like centipede, longest text message, do ya like, etc.. easier said than done, though it’s not impossible. anyway, moral of the story is this album is rad. also, shoutout to the devon hendryx archive on neocities. im still praying that someday somebody reuploads anne hathaway
