Beware, young Basil… Barovia is not a Benevolent place…
🌒 🌿 Basil Blackwell 🌿 🌘
My hexblood Lunar Sorcerer for a two person Curse of Strahd campaign between my partner and I. It’s going….. fine. Basil’s still…. alive at least. So that’s pretty good.
Quick little portrait of a cleric i'm playing in a dnd game. She's a human. definitely. not a hexblood. don't worry about the silver roots.
Part Ten
It felt like a mere blink when I stepped through the portal. I found myself in a small, candlelit room where a human man awaited my arrival.
He introduced himself as Ackyn Selebon, a partner of Frume's. He explained that he runs a shop that outfits caravans with all the supplies they could need, along with wagon repairs if needed. The cultists had already entered the city and were making their preparations, but he let us know they were still in need of guards.
I decided to cast another glamour upon myself, just in case. There are many eyes in this city, and I cannot afford being seen by the cult. I took the form of a raven-haired elf once more.
Selebon hurried us out the door, through the tavern and then quickly down the streets towards his shop to see if we could find work as caravan guards. The streets of the outer city were packed with various merchants and smells. I could hear the shipyard in the distance.
Selebon's shop turned out to be more of a junkyard. Supplies for wagons lay in stacks strewn across a large plot of land, with multiple shoppers picking through the salvage. A group of darkly dressed men carrying a large palanquin stood in the centre of the yard, awaiting Selebon’s return.
We waited at the front gates while Selebon greeted his customers. A woman dressed in long satin robes stepped from the palanquin, seemingly talking to another passenger as she exited.
While we waited for Selebon, another group of potential caravan guards walked up. Apparently this was the place to be to pick up some extra coin and work, and a line of hopefuls quickly appeared. A man wearing a thick coat and wool cap introduced himself as Azbara Jos but seemed pretty introverted, so we did not talk much. The other was a gnome woman named Jamna Gleamsilver, who was heading north to visit family and wanted to work as a guard to earn gold along the way.
Before we could discuss more, Selebon waved us over. The group and the palanquin were leaving as we passed, a smell of sulfur left in their wake. Selebon informed us that he sold the cultists 4 months worth of food and supplies, and they had hired us on as extra help as well. Azbara and Jamna were also hired, so as a group we traveled to the northern part of the city to get ready for our journey.
The plan for this caravan was to travel from Baldur's Gate to Waterdeep, a town 750 miles away. It will take a few months, and I will have to keep my disguise up at all times. The only times I can let my guard down are in my tent, but even then I will be wary.
Only a third of the caravan, as far as I knew, was a part of the cult. Multiple families and merchants are travelling north, and with the recent dragon scares, the more numbers, the better. Wagons full of gold, merchandise, and spices lined the roads north of Baldur's Gate. Guards riding armored horses checked wagons for ride alongs while children ran and played.
The sun began to set as we made our final preparations. My companions were ready, our bags were packed, and all we needed now was the early morning to come. I have a feeling I won't be getting much sleep tonight.
Part One
Kalanthe has been one of those character's whose design never quite seems to fit, but I think I finally captured how I want her to look...for now :P
I will be playing her in an upcoming dark campaign with friends, lets see how long I can keep her alive!

Part Nine
I did not sleep well.
The early morning light peeked through the cracks in the tent door, and I heard muffled voices on the other side. The city is waking up, and I must wake with it. There is no going back, and the people here need help.
I got up, got dressed and prepared to face whatever was awaiting me.
"Ah, you're awake! Hope you got some rest, as you and Smoke here are both needed in Elturel as soon as possible. The monk, Leosin Erlanthar, has requested your presence immediately, and he has left you horses to help on your journey." Nighthill exclaimed as he saw me exit the tent. I think he may have been waiting for her for a while; his stance was impatient, and a bead of sweat dropped down his temple.
Smoke greeted me with a curt nod – I wondered whether she kept the treasure we found or if she returned it to the victims of Greenest. Her stubbed tail was now bandaged up, but judging by her stance, she was incredibly self-conscious about it.
Yuldra and Aldra, having family here in Greenest to look after, decided to stay and help rebuild the town.
I am anxious about returning to Elturel; the last time I was there, it had just been pulled back from the hells, and tieflings were not warmly greeted. As Smoke and I rode towards the holy city, I cast a spell on myself to appear as an elvish woman with long black hair and obsidian eyes. It's best to play it safe.

Part Eight
I woke up before the sunrise to start packing my saddle bags. I was nervous to return to the camp so soon; I am sure they would be waiting for us. My companions were ready to leave; it seems they were too anxious to get much rest.
Leosin was unfortunately still too injured to accompany us. He informed us that he would be returning to Elturel as soon as possible—he has associates there that need to learn what he has found out about the cultists.
I bid him farewell, and we left Greenest, traveling once more down the dirt road to the camp.
A few hours into our travels, we witnessed columns of smoke rising from the campsite. The closer we got, the stronger the smell of burning wood became. We dismounted, leaving the horses behind so we could sneak through the woods around the camp. I am sure they knew who to look for, and I was not keen on getting captured.
We approached the side of the camp, waiting to see a bustling camp just like yesterday…but the place was abandoned. A few of the tents were smoldering, and we saw a trail of wagon tracks leading west. All that was left in the camp was litter, nothing even useful for the people of Greenest.
I thought it was odd and that we should return with news that the cultists had left—but that's when Smoke saw a kobold peek its head out of the cave's mouth. It quickly went back in, and my heart sunk as I realized we would have to investigate.
