In this world, there is a greater kind of "council" of Original Gods that "birth" a representative of them from a crystal to go and develop planets in their stead

These representatives can do whatever they need to in order for better production.. The main god we will be referring to, let's call Life

Life was very overwhelmed with the whole task of developing a planet, making its people, etc etc, and so they created an almost exact equal to themself from a piece of their crystal in order to take on some of these tasks. This helper became their lover and also was the one who cared for all humans. Life created everything still, but their lover oversaw all of the developments after that

Life was never present in the lives of humans outside of their intitial creation. They viewed them more like objects than people. Their lover was the opposite, constantly tending to the needs of humans and answering any of their questions. This monotony combined with being largely unable to interfere with humanity despite wanting to so badly made them question a lot of things.

Life saw the stress being put on their lover, and so the two came together to form more divine helpers from split pieces of both of their crystals.

Life creating more beings of great power finally made their lover realize that they are not actually equal at all. Life can create, but they cannot without their assistance. They grew paranoid, worrying that these new beings would overtake them with their greater numbers.

They grew very bitter towards humans asking them for everything all of the time, and Life's offputting of tasks onto others only so they could neglect their duties. They decided that if they couldn't create, they would just destroy instead. (They will now be referred to as Destruction)

Destruction deceived a few of the godlings, leading them to their death only to put the split pieces of their crystal back together. They started destroying the planet, creating the concept of natural disasters. Life was terrified and forced to, with the help of the remaining godlings, kill Destruction and revert them to their crystal form. All remaining godlings died in the battle, leaving Life all alone.

Eventually, after several centuries, Life's power grew weak. In an attempt to stay alive, they found a human that felt comfortable acting as their host body. Life turned back into their crystal form, living as a kind of implant in the human brain. In exchange, the human developed superpowers.. but was still unknowingly altered to think and act more like Life..

This process continued for a long time, until we get to modern day with H and B

H is the current host of Life, and B accidentally became the host of Destruction after touching the crystal at a museum...

H's powers came into effect immediately and they kept the city safe as a teen. B's corruption only began when he had his daughter as an adult. Considering the catalyst for Destruction's paranoia was the other godlings being created, B having a kid made Destruction inside of him "wake up" and begin the process all over again.

B was horrified at their sudden rage and behavior, so he isolated himself from everyone he loved to keep them safe. His wife got a divorce and she put the kid up for adoption. That kid was later adopted by H, actually! Buuut the daughter, having a fragment of Destruction inside her too, was tempted just the same and joined B's side again in her late teens.

In the future, both H and B will be fully "taken over" by their gods, and then, after several years, that power will weaken, and they will be forced to choose new hosts. Neither human wants that to happen because they finally see the cycle is just a neverending war. Destruction, finally strong again after harnessing so much of B's lifeforce, believes they are strong enough to destroy the world without a host at all.

B & H come together to stop Destruction, they succeed and die in the battle, but new hosts are chosen anyway through B's daughter (who still had a fragment of Destruction) and H's sidekick (who was trained to replace H)
