It was a miraculous phenomenon how vastly different familiar terrain appeared under a fresh blanket of snow. New textures were formulated through natural means, dunes and footpaths carved off the beaten trail. Near every place transformed into an area for foot traffic, thick sheens of ice providing ample coverage even to skirt across the lakes and rivers for a time. There were always risks, of course! But it was difficult not to be stricken with a sense of adventure when the ground glowed so brightly, the intricate flakes turning their face up to welcoming what light they could gather from above.

There was a pleasing crunch to sound under foot, denying any intention of stealth, signifying the motions of all those traveling near to any who paused long enough to hear it. It was cold, promptly many to retreat, hurrying through their obligatory responsibilities to seek shelter inside. Not that walls would stave off the cold for long. It rebelled, creeping to reach up panes of glass, whispering under every nook and crannies available to it, even if those who resided inside didn’t realize those spots existed!

There were a select few who ignored the instinctual reaction to flee into warmer venues.

It was why it had been so easy for the young Elric to spot Lan Fan amongst the masses. She too had her eyes to the sky, calm serenity capturing the atmosphere nicely.

With so many away from their travels out on the streets, it was oddly quiet.

The hospital hadn’t confined him for very long. It wasn’t the Elric way to remain caged for very long, their minds and bodies itching for stimulus in whatever way they could capture it. But... it was especially true for Alphonse.

The snow was an unfortunate place for one not terribly steady on their feet, the cane he balanced in hand already sinking down into its depths. Obstacle was never a thing that discouraged him. If nothing else, it only gave him a challenge to crest to prove that he could!

His eyes were bright and clear, one corner of his mouth twisted into a mischievous grin. He gave a slow nod in conformation of her offer.

“Thank you. I could really use your help.” Yessss, yes, start with a cover to suggest it was strictly a business venture. That’s all. No one legitimately wished to play in the snow. He wasn’t dressed all that appropriately for play in the snow, but who needed rules when there was work to be done?
