She’s taught us a lot this year

 I just want to say thanks for everything

Let me tell you why dating is no longer nifty

Things are a lot worse than they were in the fifties.

 See back then the word dating was a real label and a seal

Casual sex with many people was not even part of the deal.

Then in 1960 came a teeny tiny pill (Grello)

And the world of college relationships crumbled and became ill

Nowadays people think that there’s no need to commit

Hooking up’s now a thing because “everybody does it”.

  Boy:

 When I’m in college, I get to live scott free

 Partying, hooking up, there’s no real responsibility

 Why should I have to settle down?

 If I did, boy would my friends think i’m a clown.

 Why do I need to put a ring on it if I’m just 19?

 Can’t I just mess around? I don’t need to treat her like a queen.

 Is what I’m even doing called hooking up?

 I mean, yeah she sleeps with me, but I’ll still text her “what’s up?”

 She’s supposed to commit to me; she can’t sleep with no others

 But yeah we aren’t dating though… I don’t wanna feel smothered.

  Girl: 

Okay so maybe I like him

Okay so maybe he’s great

But that all don’t matter, I got a lot on my plate.

No worries though,

60% of people say I can ask him to hook up,

 …I just can’t ask him out on a date? (Bradshaw)

 I wanna change all these rules, I have something to show,

 But why would he date me when he could get sex from some ho?

 This college environment just makes me feel so trapped

 Guess society isn’t really going to change, I’ll just call this a wrap.
