Cold Point Corporation of Chadbourn, NC is a successor to the Philco European Air Conditioner Division in Germany moving to the U.S.A. in 1985 as an independent U.S. corporation and selling in the U.S. since 1990. Cold Point made exceptional window mounted room air conditioners of quality being rugged and reliable. Cold Point was a major supplier to the U.S. government because of this and received the Quality Award from the Defense General Supply for exceptional quality. Cold Point used reciprocating compressors in their line recognizing the inherent reliability of reciprocating designs. They did offer rotary compressors as a option. Cold Point coated the condenser and evaporator coils with Heresite phenolic coating which provides excellent corrosion protection to the aluminum coil structure. Electro-mechanical controls were used because of their reliability. The metal cabinet and structural parts were made of heavy gauge galvanized steel and finished in a powder baked finish to eliminate rust.
