“A man walks into a party and pours some punch and ice into a cup. He was only there to quench his thirst so he drank it very fast. Then he left the party just as quickly as he arrived. Later he hears that everyone at the party died. There was poison in the punch. How did the man not die if he drank the same drink?”

Gamora: This ball is absurd.

Watching him from this distance, seeing him talk to other people, socialise, have fun, was a kind of emotional masochism. It was like he was a world away, unreachable, untouchable. She loved watching him, especially because she knew he would never be this candid and happy around her, but it hurt too. She drummed her fingertips on her glass, and sighed. Whoever he was talking to didn’t realise how lucky they were to make him laugh like that.

She knew that she had to go and find Harley eventually, and make up an excuse about why she’d slipped away. Her friend wouldn’t be happy, if she knew what she’d been doing for the past ten minutes, but she decided to give herself another five more minutes. Without taking her eyes from Edward, she leaned forwards on her knees, and held the stem of her glass with both hands.

With an invasion in progress, the only sane thing to do was go to a bar of course. She stepped inside, taking her coat off and draping it over her arm. Dinah walked over to the bar and sat down. “Whatever you’ve got that’s strongest.” She asked the bartender who had her back towards her.

Staying low, Dick knocked one of the masked men on his ass with a low sweep kick, quickly disarming him and taking the gun for himself. Not that he’d ever want to use it –– he never understood why Jason found them so appealing.

As he made his way across the room, he tried to take down as many of the bad guys as he could, but there were too many. Not to mention it was dark, which made everything harder. No amount of training with Bruce at night could ever have prepared him for an attack as large as this. 

“Hey! Get away from them!” he yelled as he saw yet another masked person pointing a gun at someone. He knew he was putting himself in danger –– especially since he didn’t have his armored Nightwing suit on, but he didn’t care. On instinct to protect, he rushed forward, knocking the gun wielding maniac back, then began to tussle with them for the weapon. 

event 004: conspiracy in disguise - wrap up

Once the chaos of Times Square died down, EMTs rushing all injured to hospital and the police and agents clearing the area, the President’s announcement was made. Attacks had been launched all around the country - the largest of which was in New York City, resulting in a number of injured.

Former Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross - immediately removed from his position in light of these events - has been named as the man responsible for these unsanctioned attacks. The President’s announcement indicated that Ross had lead an unsanctioned attack, carried out by unnamed Registered Heroes and Vigilantes, to strike fear into the hearts of those who refuse to register. The government do not support this stance nor these actions, and will be putting their best efforts behind law enforcements and all security agencies nationwide to bring Ross and his group of radicals to justice as swiftly as possible.

The President has also expressed his gratitude towards the unregistered heroes who were targeted. He acknowledges their past work and efforts to protect their country and, even though they are now inactive, does not support action against them of this kind.

That’s the end of the event! There will be fallout from this for all kinds, for all heroes and villains alike.

Ross and his new task force are still at large - does your character support their radical approach, or are they against it? Would they consider joining? Maybe your reforming villain joins in an effort to clear their name of their villainy, or just for the sake of adding some chaos into the mix.

The public is growing more and more cautious of the registration acts altogether - they had wanted accountability, but not at the cost of lives, and seeing some of their favourite former heroes gunned down in front of them at the ball had been less than favourable. Public opinion is turning - where does that leave your character?

The Government is tasking all agencies (SHIELD and ARGUS included) with finding and stopping Ross and his task force - where does that leave your character? Are they involved in the hunt? (If you play a law enforcement/security agent of any kind please be mindful of how you carry this out, and check with us before making any major plot directions in regards to trying to catch Ross as it may clash with our own plans for the group!)

And of course - where are the unregistered heroes, now? What happened after the ball - were they hurt, did they go into hiding? Who else is coming out of the woodwork now that this chaos is causing so much panic in the city? What else are they facing!
