Since SPLOST VI took effect earlier this year, over 200 projects have been completed, started, or are in the works, including:

- Rock Quarry Rd widening

- Jonesboro Rd widening

- Eagles Landing Pkwy and Hudson Bridge Rd paving

This fall, Henry Transit Local Bus service will launch, providing a vital transportation link between Stockbridge and McDonough. The fixed route will connect the Stockbridge Park and Ride to McDonough Square, with major stops at:

- Piedmont Henry Hospital

- Shopping centers

- Points of interest along the route

- MARTA Clayton County stop on Hwy 138 Stockbridge

This connection will give residents access to quality jobs at:

- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

- Downtown Atlanta

- Northern suburbs

- The initial route will service the Bridges at Jodeco Mixed Use Development, with a stop at Jodeco Rd and Patrick Pkwy.

- Potential future expansion could include a route using the Hudson Bridge Rd to Jonesboro Rd Connector Highway (Western Parallel Connector), covering major shopping areas like:

- Walmart Hudson Bridge

- Costco Jodeco Rd

- Target Jonesboro Rd

- Fare: $2.50 one way

- Service hours: 6am-6pm, Monday through Friday

- Potential for weekend service expansion

Commentary:

The system connects to GRTA and Marta on Hwy 138. I never understand the question about Marta causing crime when Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, and Johns Creek have Marta in very nice areas. The stereotyping of MARTA came from racial stereotyping trying to keep black residents from coming to the suburbs in the past. Now many of us repeat it. Marta currently comes to Clayton County unincorporated Stockbridge multi times a day on Hwy 138 and there is not a single issue I am aware of.

I tell people all the time Marta is not the cause of crime because criminals have cars. Nobody steals your TV and then gets on the bus,it’s ridiculous. Marta is the victim of crime in area that already have major crime issues . Marta is not the problem because crime is not an issue in the nice areas Marta serves . They are just a service provider in the high crime area. Again criminals have cars!

No one ever says Marta is the problem in Roswell , Alpharetta and John’s Creek, and, Milton. No one says Marta runs in many good areas with low crime. Knowledge is power.

Don’t do to others what was done to us to keep us out of the suburbs like Henry County but we came away and raise the bar of quality development here!
