Leading into 8 “Return of the Kid”

Do y’all think Henry was a little jealous of the fact that Ray is obviously more carful with the kids than he was with Him? I mean Ray’s still reckless but Henry was almost shocked by the low stakes missions Mika was telling him about and Henry was fight with bombs on his first day as Kid danger. (More carful with them when Henry’s not around because obviously Ray wasn’t joking about burning everything to the ground to go back to dystopia with him)

“I love this” “I love you” “WHAT?” “I said get ready for round two” and then they tango into the night. That’s some fanfic bullshit and I won’t change my mind.

Canonically Mika died. that’s it. Canonically one of the kids died and they never brought it up again.

Also, how funny is Henry's pov. The guy he flirts with, is possessive over never actually gives any indication of having romantic feelings for him (for MANY good reasons), then Henry leaves for a few weeks, comes back and Ray is so mesmerized by the sight of him he literally drools all over himself, acts like a clingy ex and can't stop reframing their interactions in a romantic light

It's incredible it's effervescent because Henry Danger ended and Nickelodeon finally got rid of Dan Schneider and his weirdness and instead of making Henry and Ray more normal in Danger Force the writers and/or cast decided to do the funniest thing ever and turned Henray's bullshit up to 11. Amazing showstopping spectacular imo.

Like I'm convinced that canonically Ray just missed Henry so bad but also spent a concentrated few weeks/months with People Who Aren't Henry and so the second he unexpectedly saw Henry in all his grown up adult glory his brain like short-circuited, threw up an error message, and then re-categorized Henry from "kid brother" to "HOT BOY" with like six exclamation points. And honestly that's so valid, like, did you see him at the end of Chapa's Crush?? With the buzzcut and the stubble??? Good golly, Ray had the most valid reaction with that fucking drool lmao.

Thinking back to when Drex called Ray Henry's boyfriend. Like yeah, he probably only did it because he knew it would annoy Henry, but I wonder if there is genuine Captain Man and Kid Danger shippers in-universe. They have a whole ass fanclub; you're telling me there isn't one insane person in there drawing them making out?? I love secret relationships but I think I love people suspecting a secret relationship between 2 characters even more.

Back to the fan club, I'm imaging a small circle forming between some of the members who ship CM and KD, which inevitably makes it's way back to Ray and Henry. And they're super confused because they're used to people liking them together and never thought that there would be some who would like them together. And it probably gets stuck in their heads, because 'wow, imagine thinking us, just a pair of guys, are in love. Ha!' They get to talking about it with Charlotte, Jasper, and Schowz one night and the other three are like, 'Are you in anyway surprised people got to this conclusion.' None of them actually think Henry and Ray are together (or would ever be) but they've seen enough of their interactions to know that from an outsiders perspective the two kind of sort of look like they have something going on. Which starts a whole debacle from Henry and Ray that no, they don't act like that (as they act like that), and it's just a weird misconception between a bunch of tween girls that they'll shut down next time their out.

Except it's Henry and Ray so obviously their attempts to discredit any romantic relations ends up making the situation worse. There so focused on being 'normal' they keep making slips up that just ignite the flames. Like during an interview after a fight Henry attempts to say "I couldn't have done it without my friend" except he can't actually decide if friend is the best word, maybe buddy? Or pal? Are those too affectionate? In the end, Henry stumbles over the sentence, unable to finish it which to everyone watching it looked like he was going to say boyfriend and caught himself. Or they have to go patrolling through a park to look for a lost dog. They can't tell anybody this, because the dog's owners husband accidentally let the pup out and if the wife finds out she'll kill him. So they got be discreet. But again, this is Henry and Ray so of course they're spotted and approached by some fans who want to know what they're doing out and about. And since they can't mention the lost dog they have to make up an excuse but neither of them can agree on one, so the fans start spreading the rumor that they were actually on a date and just didn't want to admit it.

And then it just snowballs from there. Swellview is a crazy town, the news channel probably debates the logistics of CM and KD dating. Any photo of them is immediately recontextualized to be romantic. People start trying to set up little events to show that they support the two 'dating'. Villains try to use them 'dating' to torment them further, like creating more romantic themed traps for them to deal with, apologizing for ruining their 'date' nights 𐔌՞ ܸ.ˬ.ܸ ՞𐦯 They both probably lose mad ladies because all the women in swellview don't want to come between them 😭 Piper is a massive shipper of them, only because I like to torment Henry since now he has to deal with it at home. (This is before she knows he's kid danger)

But my favorite thing behind the whole mess is just these two getting into their heads about the whole ordeal. It's one thing if one person thinks they're together, but when it's a whole city?? Even their friends said it was no shock people got to that conclusion. What does that say about them? All their interactions, their hangouts, their friendship? It makes them have to confront everything they've done, and look at it through a different lens. Was their a genuine spark of romance during relationship? Was there a semblance of truth to any of the rumors? Forcing themselves to have to acknowledge any repressed feelings 🙂‍↕️ Eventually getting to a point where both realize "hey I might genuinely be feeling something for the other", but since they have the emotional capacity of a goldfish neither are saying a damn word, which starts to fester into fear that they're messing with the other's head and fucking up the relationship.

Charlotte, Jasper, and Schowz are still here btw, and exasperated. They try to help quell the rumors in the beginning, before having to shift gears into damage control when Henry and Ray start acting all weird. None of them are remotely paid enough to act as therapists to thing 1 and thing 2. They eventually get Henry and Ray to admit why they're acting so odd (separately, of course) and Charlotte plus Jasper can only revaluate their job working in the man Cave. Since the whole thing is starting to affect how the two fight crime they obviously have to step in and fix it.
