I already wrote out my observation last month, but I remember being there in the history of Helluva when Vortex first debuted, and he was very popular as a shipping partner with Loona. It got to the point that shippers were upset that he canonically had a girlfriend and wrote fanfic that had them break up so Loona could hook up with Vortex.

Then "Queen Bee" rolled around, and Vortex's girlfriend made her on-screen debut. Everyone changed their tune. One thing led to another, and now Beelzebub has supplanted Vortex as the #1 shipping partner for Loona. And Vortex fell by the wayside.

I'm serious, what the hell happened?? This is too hilarious a development in the fandom to ignore, how did we go from pre-emptively hating on Bee just for being Vortex's girlfriend to unironically shipping her with Loona and kicking Vortex to the curb? (unless the fans get poly)

A lot of fans think that they're gonna fight over the events of Mastermind, even to the point of saying they'd be disappointed if they don't do so.

Yet I don't really see the same sentiment about Tex and Bee, despite them essentially being in the same boat?

I mean, a friend being put on trial for bullshit reasons, not allowed to have anything resembling fairness cause of their class/race, with execution being the punishment, and one half of the pair overseeing said kangaroo trial, and while obviously objecting to it, still ultimately accepting Satan's authority cause they were out voted?

That's just as much Tex and Bee with Loona as it is Fizz and Ozzie with Blitz, yet outside a few posts when Mastermind came out, I don't really see as much demand for a Tex and Bee fight as a Fizz and Ozzie one. Granted, it's probably because Tex and Bee aren't as popular as Fizz and Ozzie, and also aren't contrasted with Stolitz, thus lacking the parallels aspect. But I dunno, it's interesting that there's another couple that has the same sort of issue, yet they don't get the same conflict in fanfic.

To start with, her most popular ship used to be with Vortex--it was a sort of Romeo and Juliet thing, as even though they were on opposing sides, they still got along well, with Vortex seeming to have been Loona's first real friend.

It got to the point that people were upset that Vortex canonically has a girlfriend, so they made fics that not only speculated on who the girlfriend was, but also had her and Vortex separate in order to make LoonTex work.

Three years later, "Queen Bee" was released, and Vortex's girlfriend was revealed...

This reveal was when everyone changed their tune. Bee was just so damn likeable and fun that the pre-emptive hatred for her kind of evaporated. Of course, it helped that she was pretty warm towards Loona.

This turn of events spawned two ships that pretty much overtook LoonTex:

HoneyMoon, Bee and Loona themselves. Also supported by the fact that they're canonically pan and bi, respectively.

On the other end of things, Vortex has started to fall by the wayside in the fandom, probably not helped by his only other appearance so far in "Apology Tour", wherein he sang the more biting lyrics in "All 2 U" with his scorned boss, Verosika.
