The Humpers âThe Dionysus Yearsâ 1995. Hell Yeah Records. Six song 10âł EP of early 90â˛s California garage punk originally on Dionysus Records (Hell Yeah is a subsidiary of Dionysus). Two of the six tracks were previously unreleased: âCops and Robbersâ and âBlack Cats.â The three songs on Side A were literally recorded in a garage; from the liner notes: â...were recorded sometime around 1992 by Danny McGough in the garage behind his house in Atwater.â Those include âHey Shadow,â âInsect Liberation,â and âCops and Robbers.â Frontman/singer Scott âDeluxeâ Drake writes about âInsect Liberationâ - âThe much maligned bug-anthem was the last song I played guitar on. Upon hearing the lyrics to this smash hit, original bassist Bill Warman threw down his instrument and exclaimed âI refuse to play in a song called âInsect Liberation!ââ (Itâs not that bad! Super-silly lyrics but hard-driving, blistering garage punk). âDead Lastâ and âSuperpower,â the remaining songs on the EP, were recorded at the Bomb Shelter in â93. After recording the singles for Dionysus, The Humpers recorded a two albums on Sympathy for the Record Industry in â93 and â94 before signing with Epitaph Records in â95.Â
