HE ALWAYS KNOWS that he’s stayed too late at the shop when he can see the sun beginning to peek through the blinds, rising over the mountains and throwing beams of golden light onto the river. It’s beautiful, but damning all at the same time. Another night with no sleep is never a good thing for Jesse. He’d be grateful if he felt even the least bit tired, but he’s wide awake, so he decides to take a break and ride down to the liquor store for a pack of cigarettes.
He lights one as soon as he’s outside the store, and he stands there on the street for a moment, admiring the sunrise, before someone on the street gets his attention.
“... Hey,” he calls to the kid.
Is that... no, no, that can’t be.
“... Do I know you?”
