Hi scholars wonder if this is real, just saw it in twitter but I’m scared is AI https://x.com/dlrtyshlrt/status/1975569725758579173?s=46

it's not AI! although tbh i would dearly love to see a) the prompt someone would use to generate such a thing and b) any AI convincingly replicate the gallaghers' Whole Deal onstage from that era. it's from this show in colorado in 2001, in reponse to some drunken fool in the crowd heckling them.
here's the clipped audio:
that first "motherfuckerrr" is liam btw
McIlroy, Lowry take brunt of heckling at rowdy Ryder Cup
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — From the moment Bethpage Black was announced in 2013 as this year’s Ryder Cup host, there was an expectation the competition could be one of the loudest — and potentially rowdiest — in recent memory. But what transpired Saturday in the afternoon four-ball match that featured Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry turned into something beyond the expected. Over 18 holes, the European…

McIlroy, Lowry take brunt of heckling at rowdy Ryder Cup
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — From the second Bethpage Black was introduced as this 12 months’s Ryder Cup host in 2013, there was an expectation the competitors might be one of many loudest — and doubtlessly rowdiest — in current reminiscence. However what transpired Saturday within the afternoon four-ball match that featured Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry became one thing past the anticipated. Over the…

Toxic Masculinity in Sports/Heckling
It genuinely is baffling that people (men) think it’s acceptable to degrade athletes during matches/rounds/games. Being blatantly and purposefully mean to another human is never a good look.
Ryder Cup 2025 saw unparalleled levels of verbal abuse directed at Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry. American spectators screamed at the men about their families (McIlroy) and weight (Lowry). “Fuck you, Rory,” was heard echoing greens as he played. Spectators escalated to gesturing and leering at Rory’s wife as she followed his Saturday Four Ball round. Robert MacIntyre was also targeted by the crowd, having to endure being called “a bloody wanker.”
The 2024/2025 MLB season also saw an uptick in hecklers. It’s nearly become a trend to yell down to outfielders during games. While the words themselves are less severe than those said at the Ryder Cup, the rude interruptions are loud and present regardless. The players often reach their breaking points. One instance had a player brought to tears after being yelled about about his mother, who had passed away (Marte) and others have been heard yelling back, “I’m human too!” (Dyers).
Something has to change. Professional athletes aren’t immune to spectator cruelties and need to be treated with kindness and respect.
