Calpaw would find Rootkit on his first solo patrol as an apprentice, inside the relatively-safe Greenhouse. Knowing very well what it's like to be a lone kit in the House, he makes the executive decision to bring her back to Throneclan. The experienced adults of the clan are reasonably suspicious about this completely solitary and unharmed kitten, but Heatherstar is completely without concerns and takes Rootkit in with no qualms.

I imagine her spiritual abilities manifest in an affinity to the magics of the House. It's certainly not benevolent, but much like Starclan, it does quite like her; She could probably convince it do to things for her later in life. Calpaw would likely convince his mother to take her in, allowing her to be raised closely alongside him as siblings. Her full name might be Rootgarden, both to honor where she was discovered, but also her place as a Medicine Cat. She would probably insist upon joining the patrols to find an exit, though; Whether official, or just sneaking off with Cal to uncover the mysteries of the house.
