✅A story about this head of high school who is a lovely person, but was missing one small hinge that would swing big doors. ✅Speaking with this very nice head, their culture was “Heads don’t have much to do with staff and students UNLESS they have to. They go straight to their office and get on. Only emerging during assemblies and important meetings and spending plenty of time pushing school up the league tables ” ✅I said, do you know if you got into the habit of saying “hello and how are you to every staff and student” actually stopping for a minute or two not because they stopped you, but because you stopped to see them and make them feel seen, heard, and valued you’d increase your overall school motivation and success. “I’m so busy I don’t have time for that” they said. ✅We spoke for a further 15 minutes and I helped them understand the leverage power in my strategy. ❤️Spend 2 minutes to make staff & students feel valued and you’ll not need to spend hours following dodging staff and students, coaxing, motivating, or checking if they’ve done their work. ✅When a person, (staff or student) feels seen, they begin to act like they matter, they ignite their own value, and want add value to their own life.
