After getting the two skeletons back on line, you had been properly introduced to Red, Edge, Blue, and Orange. They expressed how grateful they were for a place to stay. In their own ways. Blue even offered to do your nails for your wedding, gushing over your look.
âTHAT DRESS IS JUST SO LOVELY!â
âThank you, Blue. It was my motherâs.â
This dress was your absolute favorite. The straps were so small and thin that they gave the illusion of it being strapless, paired with a corset bodice. The laces for it were silk ribbons. The skirt of the dress stopped a little below your knees and reminded you of a ballerinaâs tutu. A layer of mesh fabric with real moonstones sewn in over the main skirt.
You had always fantasized about getting married in it as a child and now here you are! About to marry your fiancĂŠ of three years.
This isnât who you were supposed to marry
Shaking that odd little voice away, you tried to focus on the conversation. It always popped up at the weirdest times with the oddest things to say. Zoning back in on the sweet skeleton doing your nails, you saw him looking at the colors you had picked out with his face scrunched up in confusion.
âMISS. (Y/N) WHY DO YOU HAVE THESE COLORS OUT?â
Smiling at him, you plucked the bottle of orange nail polish from his hand, looking at it rather fondly. âI want to wear colors that represent the people I love.â
You had picked an orange and blue that reminded you of your best friendsâ magic. A bright pink for your sister, a dark purple for your mother, and a dark green for your father. You didnât have the best memory of them, often getting things mixed up, but you wanted to honor your parents in some way.
âTHATâS SO BEAUTIFUL, MISS. (Y/N)!â
âOh my goodness- Blue donât cry.â
~*~
âhow many of you are coming early?â Sans asked the other three skeletons.Â
He had left Papyrus and Blue in the house with you to help you finish getting ready. They had to leave soon, but Sans didnât feel all that confident leaving the eight alone in your house.
âall of us.â Orange answered, lighting a cigarette. It was probably one of the few chances heâd get without Blue yelling at him about it.
âyou guys couldnât wait one. more. day?â
Before any of them could answer, two more cars pulled up. Great. This was not Sansâ day.
âSans! Have you seen my veil?! I canât find it!â
That was a welcome distraction. âexplain to them whatâs happening. i have to go help and then get ready.â
Putting on your gloves, you once again admired your motherâs fashion sense. They were fingerless and the fabric only covered the back of your hand, your wrist and part of your forearm. The only thing that kept them in place was a singular loop that went around your middle finger.
They were crocheted by your grandmother on your fatherâs side. The designs were intricate and filled with so much love. The gloves were all white, except for seven hearts that surrounded an upside down white heart in the middle of them. Red, orange, yellow, green, two different shades of blue, and purple. They were truly one of a kind.
âfound the veil, kiddo.âÂ
Sitting down, you let Sans pin it in your curls, fidgeting a bit. The closer it got to the time you were to be wed, the more nervous you got. You were still happy and excited, but there was this nagging feeling in your chest that wouldnât go away. It kept trying to tell you that something was wrong.
You tried your best to ignore it. You couldnât let anything ruin your mood. Today was going to be one of the best days of your life.
âyou got everything you need, kid?â
âLetâs see hereâŚâ You had to run down the checklist for your wedding attire. âI have something old, my mothers dress, gloves, and veil. Something new would be my white fishnet stockings, something borrowed are my sister's high heelsâŚ. I have nothing blue.â
âWE THOUGHT YOU MIGHT SAY THAT. SO, WE HAVE A GIFT FOR YOU.â
Both Sans and Papyrus stood in front of you, smiling while holding out a small box for you. âWha- guys. You didnât have to get me anything.â
âWE WANTED TO. OPEN IT! PleaseâŚâ
How could you say no to that? Carefully taking the box, you slowly took off the lid, gasping at the sight of one of the most beautiful necklaces you had ever seen. On the end of the gold chain was a colorful and uniquely shaped gemstone
âitâs blue bismuth. it was our motherâs.â
âDo You Like It?â
âI love itâŚâ Your voice was barely above a whisper. You were so touched. Standing, you gave both of them a tight hug. âAre you sure you want me to have this?â
âweâre sure, (y/n).â
âYouâre The Only One We Could Ever Imagine Having It.â
Something about this seemed extremely important, almost symbolic. Before you could ask any more questions, Papyrus was bouncing excitedly on the balls of his feet.Â
âMAY I PUT IT ON YOU? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE ?â
Giggling, you moved your hair out of the way and turned so he could put it on you. The stone sat just above your chest and the weight of it was comforting. Now, no matter where you were or what happened, you would have a piece of two of the most important people in your life.
Fanning your face, you willed your tears away. You didnât want to mess up Papyrusâ masterpiece, after all. âOkay. Go get ready, you two. I canât wait to see your suits.â
âweâll be quick. Iâm sure youâll be a blushing bride even before you get to the altar.â
Winking slowly at you, he headed up the stairs with Papyrus trailing behind him scolding him for the inappropriate joke. You couldn't help laughing. Sans just looked so proud of himself.
âAH. SO, YOUâRE THE BRIDE WE WERE TOLD ABOUT.â
Turning to face who was speaking to you, you watched the skeletonâs smile drop and his eye lights disappear at seeing your face. He looked like he had seen a ghost.

Pt 2 of gifs from the Here Come the Brides episode âMr. and Mrs. J Boltâ. Prospective bride Peggy (Mary Jo Deschanel) has written her uncle saying sheâs married to Joshua Bolt (David Soul). She did this because, although she wanted to go to Seattle, she didnât have his consent to make the trip. As a minor, her uncle is still her legal guardian.
Now he's coming to visit and will surely find out she lied and take her home. Unless...
Joshua and Peggy pretend to be married while heâs in town.
A weaselly, schemer of a man who already squandered her inheritance, Uncle Jebediah is all too happy to hear Peggy married into a family with a flourishing business. He attempts to squeeze his way into the Boltsâ logging operation, threatening to sue them for taking Peggy to Seattle without his consent if they donât agree to cut him in.
Things get infinitely worse when word of the fake marriage spreads first, to Captain Clancey and, via him, Aaron Stempel.
With the prospect of losing their business and Peggy being forced back into her abusive uncleâs custody looming, Josh and Peggy elope.
In the end, theyâre able to send Jebediah away, save their business (and Peggyâs freedom) without she or Josh having to get married. Not realizing they only got a marriage license but didnât actually go through with the wedding, he leaves.
Peggy keeps the license because itâs good for a year and she might need it.
Today was going to be the best day ever. You were finally getting married! Sure, that meant you had to move out and you could no longer live with your two best friends, but it would be worth it! Right? You could still come visit and hang out whenever. You werenât one of those girls whoâs husband became their whole personality.
Speaking of your best friends, not only would they be in your wedding, they had helped you plan it. As well as helping you get ready for it. Sitting at the dining room table with your robe on to protect your dress, Papyrus was in the middle of doing your makeup. Sans, on the other hand, was standing on a stool behind you to do your hair.
âGuys you really donât have to do this.â
âwe know, kid. we want to. besides, no need for you to stress about something as silly as hair and makeup on such an important day.â
âSans. Iâm older than you.â
âso you keep telling me, yet you have not given me any proof to back that up. hench, you will still be kid.â
âBack me up here, Paps.â
âI AM TRYING TO FOCUS ON MY MASTERPIECE. AS SUCH, STOP TALKING SO I DO NOT GET LIPSTICK ANYWHERE OTHER THAN YOUR LIPS.â
Trying not to laugh, you were surprised to hear the door bell. Aly wasnât supposed to be here for another hour. Who could it be? Seems you werenât the only one surprised by this since both skeletons stopped working.
âI can-â
ânope. you just sit there and look pretty. a rather easy job for you, if i say so myself. iâll go get it.â Finished up with your hair, Sans lazily made his way to the front door.
âWho do you think it could be?â
Papyrus didn't respond for a moment, looking rather nervous. âI HAVE A GUESS⌠IT COULD BE OUR COUSINS. THE ONES WHO NEEDED A PLACE TO STAY. THOUGH, THEY WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO ARRIVE UNTIL TOMORROW.â
Their cousins? Oh my stars! That would be amazing if they were here early! You could meet them right before you got married. They were Sans and Papyrusâ family which automatically made them your family. There was nothing they could do or say to change that. Your mind had been made up long ago.
Maybe you could even invite them to your wedding. It was kind of last minute and they probably wanted to unpack⌠but it wouldnât hurt to just put the offer out there. Even if they only ended up coming to the reception. It would be a great way to bond with everyone.
âdammit red! i said not to go in there!â
In came Sans trying to pull a more edgy version of himself out of the dining room. It was a rather funny sight in your opinion.
âi just wanna see the human you two are always yappinâ about- holy shit.â
âWow. You guys must have done a great job if Iâve got that reaction before I even showed off the full look.â Amused, you stood to stretch as Papyrus cleaned up the table.Â
âdonât encourage him, kid.âÂ
Turning his attention back to his cousin, Sans looked so frustrated. You couldnât blame him. They were supposed to get here tomorrow and with today being so busy the two brothers wouldnât be able to help them unpack and show them around the rather large house. But, there was no reason to stress about this. The ceremony wasnât for a couple more hours.
âwhy are you guys here? what happened to the schedule? the plan?â
âfuck your plan. we canât stand that place. the sooner we got outta there, the better.â
Was it really that bad where they had been before? Poor thingsâŚÂ
âSans. Itâs fine. All I have left to do is paint my nails, get my shoes on, and put on the rest of my accessories. Weâre making fantastic time.â
He looked like he wanted to argue more, but decided against it so more time wasnât wasted. Pinching the bridge of his nasal ridge, Sans sighed heavily. âalright. not like we can just turn them away now.â
âExactly.âÂ
Putting some bottles of nail polish on the table, you decided you should probably grab your shoes before the main area got too crowded. No reason to be in the way while people were moving their stuff into their new home. Wasnât that just an exciting thought?
You were able to help more Monsters find a place to live. You hoped they liked it here as much as you did. Taking your robe off and setting it aside on one of the chairs, you ignored the wolf whistle you got from Red. Drawing attention to it would only encourage him and make Sansâ mood worse.
Grabbing your white heels, you moved off to the side when you noticed someone walking to the door. See? This is what you were trying to avoid.
âYOU MUST BE THE HUMAN OWNER OF THIS HOUSE. WE-â As soon as this edgier looking version of Papyrusâ eye lights landed on you, he went quiet. He seemed to be in stunned silence and dropped the box he was holding.
It would have hit the ground if the orange magic now surrounding the box didnât stop it. âedge what the hell? you donât usually go around dropping- âŚstuffâŚâ
Amused by the whole situation and feeling a rather nice confidence boost, you tried to hide your smile. âUh⌠hi.âÂ
When neither of them answered, you headed back to where you left the other three. They seemed to be arguing about something. Well, Sans and Red were. Papyrus was trying to play mediator, at least until he saw you reenter the dining room. Coming over to you, he helped you balance while you put on the death trap disguised as shoes.
âThanks, Paps. I think I broke two of your cousins.â
âWHICH TWO?â
âYour edgy and lazy looking counterparts.â
He, as well as the two skeletons in the room, seemed to freeze at your wording. This reaction was interesting⌠After a moment, Papyrus shook his head before smiling again. Well damn. Eh, theyâll tell you when theyâre ready. Or youâll call them out on their bullshit at some point. Whichever came first.
âTHAT IS EDGE AND ORANGE. HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO BREAK THEM?â
âI donât know. I just went to get my shoes. They came in and stared at me in stunned silence. Almost like they havenât seen a bride before.â
âSANS! SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY BROTHER!â Oops⌠that must be Orangeâs brother.
âiâm not surprised you managed to cause a factory restart for the boss, doll. he has a thing for the whole pure look.â
Really? It had to be more than that. The poor guy was as still as a statue. You looked over to see the panicked skeleton shaking Sans, demanding him to go fix his brother.

âWINE. STOP STARING AT THE HUMAN LIKE THAT. YOUâRE SCARING HER.â
Snapping out of whatever trance he was in, Wine forced a smile back on his face before taking your hand. âIT IS A PLEASURE TO MEET YOU, MY DEAR. I AM WINE, AND THIS IS BLACK.â Bringing the hand he was holding to his teeth in a mock kiss, he froze when he saw your gloves.
âIs⌠everything okay, Wine?â
âwine. get away from her.â Sans said, popping right in between the two of you.Â
Seeing the two glare at each other, you took a step back and looked at Papyrus as he came down the stairs. Whatever you were gonna say died on your tongue seeing Papyrus in a suit. Thoughts? What were those? Did you even need them? Not when you had a good looking skeleton dressed up for you.
âDO I LOOK PRESENTABLE?â
âTotally. The bowtie is a nice touch.â Looking between the two brothers, you gasped at what you saw. âYour shirts match my nails!â
Sans had a cyan button up paired with a bright orange tie that was not yet tied. Very on brand for the skeleton. Papyrus on the other hand had a bright orange button up with a cyan bowtie. Aww~ they matched! Blushing, they both looked away with sheepish smiles at being called out.
âgeez, kid. did you have to call us out like that?â
âHave to? No. Wanted to? Big time.â Fixing Sansâ collar, you did up his tie for him. âYou both look very handsome.âÂ
âISNâT IT BAD LUCK FOR THE GROOM TO SEE THE BRIDE IN HER DRESS BEFORE THE CEREMONY?â Black asked, watching the two of you.
Looking at him with a confused smile, you saw both Sans and Papyrus tense up out of the corner of your eye. âIt is. But the groom isnât here.â
âTHEN WHY ARE YOU-â
âOH LOOK! ITâS MUTT AND COFFEE!â
Both skeletons shared a look when they heard their names. Okay, secrets were being kept from you again. Another thing added to the âcalling them on their bullshitâ list. However, youâd have to wait to start that list, as your sister was calling you. Stepping away to answer, you ignored all the eyes on you the best you could. All the staring was starting to become unnerving.
âHey Aly. Whatâs up?â
âNothing much, baby-boo. I stopped by the flower shop for your bouquet⌠and the shop had been vandalized. All their flowers were destroyed. They were very apologetic and offered a full refund.â
âWhat?! A-Are they alright? You told them no about the refund right? They need money more than I do right now.â
Aly chuckled as if she knew you would say that while getting into her car. âYes I did. But what are you going to do for a bouquet now?â
âEasy. Itâs called, I have a garden full of different flowers. I can make my own.â
âWelp. That was easier than I thought it was gonna be to solve. Alright, Iâll see you in about fifteen minutes. Love ya.â
âLove you too.â Hanging up, you sighed at the news you just received. Why would anyone target that shop? The owner was so niceâŚ
âeverythinâ okay there, doll?â
Turning back to the now rather large group of skeletons, you gave them all a disappointed look for listening in on your conversation before answering. âMy sister just called and told me that the flower shop got vandalized, so Iâll have to make my own bouquet.âÂ
âMUTT. YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO.â Black ordered his brother. Said brother was already on his way out to your garden at the call of his name. âWORRY NOT, HUMAN. MY BROTHER IS VERY SKILLED WITH FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS.â
âOh. Thatâs very kind of you but he doesnât need to. I can do it myself.â
âAND RISK GETTING YOUR DRESS DIRTY AND STAINED? I THINK NOT. THINK OF THIS AS A WEDDING GIFT AS WELL AS A THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING US TO STAY IN YOUR HOME.â
What is it with these skeletons and backing you into a corner?! You couldnât just refuse them now! It wasnât long before Mutt came back holding tigerlilies, forget-me-nots, and white rose mallows. Those were rather interesting choices, but they were so beautiful together.
Grabbing a roll of white ribbon from a random drawer (yes you had random crap spread throughout your house), you cut some off and handed it to him. Watching him arrange the different flowers and tie them off was fascinating. You wouldnât have thought to arrange them in such a way. Yours would have just been a mess.
Finished, Mutt held them out as if presenting a work of art to you. You almost didnât want to take them, afraid youâd ruin them somehow.
âWOWIE, MUTT! YOUâVE OUT DONE YOURSELF!â Papyrus praised.
Carefully taking the bouquet, you smiled up at him. âThank you.â
â...itâs nothinâ...â Looking away, an orange flush appeared on his skull. Okay heâs adorable.
Hearing a car horn, your smile grew. It was time to get this show on the road. âThat would be my sister. I know you guys have unpacking to do⌠but if youâd like youâre more than welcome to come with Sans and Papyrus. Or even show up to the reception for the free food and booze.âÂ
Making your way out to your sisterâs car as fast as you could without tripping, you could hardly contain your excitement. Today was going to be an amazing day.
~*~
You were starting to worry. You had taken your photos with your sister and your friends and finished the last touches, yet you were still waiting. It was half an hour past the starting time and no one had come to get you to start the wedding march. You were starting to get worried.
After another ten minutes, you decided to go check on him yourself. Only to be met with an empty room⌠the only things that showed he had been there was a note and his ring.
