Magnus had mentioned some sort of market where she could pick up the necessary supplies for her lazarus pit but she was having difficulty finding the place. If it was that difficult to find she knew that she might need to resort to finding an outside supplier for her things. Not something she'd been looking forward to but one she would do if necessary. Luckily, she found someone who looked like they might be able to help her. Something else Magnus had told her about; those with markings on their skin would point her in the right direction. If they knew about it. Talia hoped they did but she wasn't about to count on it. She couldn't given just how low her supplies were. "I'm looking for the shadow market and I was told there was one in the city. Maybe you could point me in the right direction."

alec's answer actually caught him off-guard and he looked at the other in surprise. he knew the other didn't understand what it was that kept pushing him to find jeremy's murderer. his friend had risked a lot for him, had put not only his life but his reputation on the line by giving him that particular spell and he didn't deserve to die. someone out there had decided that he did and whomever it was he was going to find it. what bothered him the most was the whispers of a group of shadowhunters that wanted to kill all downworlders. steve knew if that ended up being the case he'd have a lot more trouble on his hands than he could handle. he was supposed to be staying out of sight, off the clave's radar and instead he was throwing himself headfirst into things. and he was doing it with another shadowhunter, one who he enjoyed spending time with truth be told.

"we both know i can't. if i'm to find this killer i need sleep at some point." though he was so damn tempted to use the runes to stay awake. before he used to do that when they were trying to do research for a particular mission. but that was another life ago and the last thing he wanted was to bring back old habits into his new life. then again, he didn't want to involve another shadowhunter in his life and yet there was alec, not only helping him but willing to do what he could to find out information for him. steve appreciated that more than anything and somehow he'd find a way of repaying him for all of that. "you don't have to leave," he quietly told him, looking hesitantly at him. his flat may have been small but he would take the couch and give alec the bed so they could start the search fresh in the morning. at least there was more room here than in the warehouse. "i'll take the couch, you can sleep in my bed. and if you want i can even make breakfast in the morning before we head out."

the bar may not have been his favourite place, but at least it would give him some insight into the city and the people he'd need to blend in with. london may have been HOME but business seemed to take him from it far more often than not. at least this time the city was one he was familiar with. it had been a long time since he'd been to new york but not much had changed and he knew he'd be able to slip into and out of the institute. eames still couldn't quite believe that he'd been hired to steal something from the nephilim. most of the time it was nicking things from private collections but apparently what he needed was in the new york institute and the head of said institute tended to show up at this particular bar. and if his information was correct the nephilim he needed was there with him enjoying far too many drinks. in all honesty, it was too easy to get the information he needed but sometimes that's just how it went for him.

still nursing his first drink, he knew better than to indulge. not when the man next to him seemed to be drinking enough for many people. at least it would make things easy. the more he drink the looser his lips would be and the more information he could get. and maybe he could the other to lead him right where he needed to be. "you keep looking at it like you're expecting it to give you advice," eames teased, moving his body to face the other. if it looked like he was giving the other some attention maybe it would loosen his lips more. "surely life can't be THAT bad, can it?" motioning the bartender, he made a point of telling her the other needed another drink. Of course, he would keep an eye on him so he didn't over do it, but he needed enough alcohol to get the information he needed.

The city he walked into looked just like his own and he sighed in relief. If it had been vastly different he was going to have problems trying to find the source of his nightmares. But it looking similar to his own meant he should be able to track the source of the images. Since he couldn't use nephilim weapons any longer, Alexander had given him a staff that currently sat in two pieces strapped to his thighs. When brought together it would make a larger staff for him to use if necessary but they both knew that when worse came to worse he would fight as a wolf. Jace wasn't going to think about that, though. With each step he took he knew that his time would be limited. He and Alexander had decided upon a time when he would return and he needed to find the source of the nightmares before that time was up. Otherwise, he and Alexander were going to have to figure it out together. He knew the two of them could do it together, but he'd rather find it himself so that he wouldn't have to tax his warlock more than he already had.

He'd stuck to the shadows while he figured out his bearings but his nose picked up a scent, one that was familiar and yet strange at the same time. It wasn't something he wanted to find out. If someone was tracking him, if someone was following him he needed to ignore them. The last thing he needed was to find more trouble. He picked up his pace but unfortunately he could sense that whomever was tracking him wasn't about to give up. Jace knew he couldn't let them catch up and spotting the nearby alley he ducked down in it, moving just far enough to hide within the shadows. Holding his breath, he knew that whomever was tracking him would eventually pass by the alleyway and he hoped that they would keep moving forward. Except when they stopped and looked down the alley all he could think of was Alexander. He'd been warned that seeing him in another realm was possible but he hadn't thought it would happen this soon.
