Change-Makers, (R)evolutionaries, and Aspiring Allies— My name is Nisha, and I am the ACLU of Idaho's campaign organizer for our state's anti-trans bills. It is my job to stop these bills from passing, and I am calling on you for support. We need y'all now more than ever! Both HB500 and HB509 have passed to the Senate, and both bills could be voted on as early as this week. We expect the legislative session to end altogether by next Friday (March 20th). Essentially, this is our final hope and last stretch. I urgently ask you to take 1-2 minutes to email our Senators to oppose these bills. This is the most accessible direct-action and influence to stop these anti-trans bills, and it is imperative for you, your friends, and your friends' friends to email in! We all need to play a role. I am giving you a one-click email template for you to send to legislators today! Make as many changes and edits as you'd like, and send it to anyone you can so they may email too; just do not fail to send this email & support our LGBTQ+ Idahoans before it's too late. I will send you a letter template for the governor soon. Thank you for your solidarity and commitment to all of us. It is an honor and joy to be in community with you. With abundant love and power, Nisha Jae Newton (they/them)
THIS IS HAPPENING IN IDAHO
Please share…. Idaho is trying to force transgender kids, teens, and adult athletes to a sex identification so “authorities” can know what sex someone was born at birth so they can be placed into “male’ or “female” teams according to that. This means transgender people will no longer be able to play on the team that they identify as.
This bill also eradicates intersex people who were force assigned a gender at birth by a doctor, but may not identify as that themselves.
The second bill states that transgender people will no longer be able to change their gender marker on their birth certificate !!! There are so many negative impacts from this.
These bills have been passes to the senate and this is the last shot we have to oppose them. These bills are wrong and dehumanizing.
