Hey! Do you like groovy synths? Funky bass solos? A murderous robot bangin' out the tunes on drums? An intergalactic guitar wizard? ATOMIC KARATE, HIGH KICKS, and GOOD VIBES?
You should check out TWRP!!
They're a band from Halifax. And space. And the 80's. And also the future. And they're here to rock your socks off with their own brand of groovy, synthy, interstellar funk-rock. They also made the intro music for Creator Clash 2!
Was going through old files and whoops! I found a whole bonus scene I wrote and never posted. So... here ya go!
Spoilers under the cut for the near-end of the story!
This scene takes place around the vicinity of pages 114-116. For those who donât remember (itâs been a while!), Deimos has been defeated, the gang is back together, and theyâre taking a few days to fix the Time Crystal.
Havveâs optics blinked, taking in the small form of Meouch sitting curled up on the couch. It was midnight--rather, it would have been midnight if they had been on Earth--and his three boys shouldâve all been in bed. âYouâre supposed to be asleep,â he said, keeping his volume down for the sake of the others.
âI know,â Meouch said, seemingly having fully expected that from Havve. âI canât stop thinking, though.â
Havve could have sighed and sent him off to bed anyway--if Meouch could think out here, in front of the muted TV playing intergalactic infomercials, then he could think in his room--but he didnât. He sat down next to Meouch and got comfortable, leaning back and lacing his fingers together over his stomach. âWhatâre you thinking about?â
âClearly itâs not nothing,â Havve retorted, âif itâs keeping you up half the night.â
âItâsâŚâ Meouch sighed. He crossed his arms over his chest and burrowed his hands inside the sleeves of his t-shirt. He looked at the TV, defeated. âItâs stupid.â
âI bet itâs not,â Havve said. Meouch didnât look at him, eyes vacantly stuck on the infomercial in front of him. Havve sighed then, a tinny, half-real, half-robotic sound. âYou can talk to me, you know. I wonât judge. I mean⌠youâre a kid for crying out loud. Of course youâre worried about stuff you wouldnât be normally.â Havveâs optics drifted to the TV for a moment (something about air fryers. He couldnât believe they were still hawking that crap this far in the future), and then turned back to Meouch. âIf somethingâs got you concerned, and you care about it, then that means itâs important. I wonât think itâs stupid. Okay?â
Meouch pursed his lips into a line. He blinked, his eyes reflecting the screen in front of them, and Havve realized he was trying to push back tears. âIf we donât fix this,â Meouch croaked, his voice rough and barely above a whisper, âif we have to grow up all over again from scratch⌠I did the math, Havve. I have the shortest lifespan here. Iâm⌠Iâm not gonna live to see Phobos and Sung get back to normal.â
The dam broke. It was quiet, Meouch still trying to hold himself together, but his eyes were gushing tears and his lips were trembling with cries trying to pry their way out. Havve sat up straighter and scooped him up, pulling Meouch into his chest and holding a hand on the back of his small head. Meouch choked out a high-pitched sob, muffled by Havveâs shirt. âOh, bud. Itâs okay. Itâs okay,â he said, rubbing his thumb up and down on Meouchâs back. Havve couldnât cry, as he didnât have the eyes or the tear ducts necessary, but he could still feel his chest grow tight and his breath hitch in his half-metal throat. âIt wonât come to that, I promise. Weâll fix this, Meouch. Itâs okay.â
âI know. Itâs like, so many what-ifs all piled on top of one another,â Meouch squeaked once he gained a little bit of his composure back. He sniffled, trying and failing to not get Havveâs shirt all wet. âOf course weâre gonna fix it. But I canât get it out of my head, man. For fuckâs sake, Phobos is, what, twelve hundred years old? That's twice as old as Iâll ever be. I donât wanna grow up and have him still be a little kid. I canât, Havve, I canâtâŚâ
âI know. God, if thereâs anyone who understands that feeling, itâs me,â Havve said. âI honestly donât mind taking care of you guys like this, but⌠I need you back, too. I canât⌠rust away into nothing before Sung even hits puberty. I need you guys back.â
âMm.â Meouch crawled further into Havveâs arms, burying his head in his hoodie and wrapping his arms tight around Havveâs chest. âI know they're gonna outlive me,â he muttered, barely audible. âIâve always known that. Sâjust how shit goes. But I⌠Theyâre my⌠All of you are my best friends, and if we canât tour together or do music together or just⌠hang out together without having to worry about babysitting⌠I canâtâŚâ
Havve hummed in agreement, a strange mix of breath and white noise, making his chest vibrate. Meouch leaned into it, and Havve cradled him there. He needed this hug so bad that he was practically trying to crawl into Havveâs chest plate, and if Havve could have, he wouldâve let him.
âI know youâve probâly already been thinking about this a lot,â Meouch mumbled, his voice still wet and thick. âAbout what happens if the Time Crystal doesnât poof us back to normal. This is old news for you. âM sorry.â
âDonât apologize,â Havve shook his head. âYou have nothing to be sorry about. Thereâs been so much going on⌠The whole thing with Phobos and Deimos⌠This is something we shouldâve talked about days ago. The big shitty âwhat-ifâ hanging over everyoneâs heads. I hate it, you hate it, and no doubt Sung and Phobos hate it too. Itâs hard to think about. Phobos is⌠tiny.â Havve ran his fingers gently through the fur on Meouchâs head, partly to soothe Meouch and partly to steady himself, and he spoke quietly, the bass of his speaker rumbling low in the top of his chest. âSeeing him get that small was⌠terrifying. I canât imagine him staying that young for a hundred years. I donât want to think about what that would do to him, what that would do to you or me⌠And SungâŚâ
âI donât know how old he is,â Meouch whispered, âbut heâs old old, isnât he?â
âI canât say.â
Meouch gripped the fabric of Havveâs shirt tighter, his small fingers digging into the warm metal of Havveâs stomach. âI know you know.â
Havve sighed. âI canât say because thatâs Sungâs secret to tell, not mine. But⌠yes, heâs old old. If he has to grow up again âfrom scratchâ as you called it⌠Weâd all be long gone before he reached adulthood again.â
âGod,â Meouch whimpered.
They sat there in the quiet for a good long while, letting it all sit. It was dark, save for the blue-light glow of the TV and the bright red of Havveâs optics, quiet save for the TV humming and Havveâs inner mechanisms humming and Meouchâs shaky, wet breaths. Havve could faintly feel himself starting to get a headache, something he rarely experienced. He could feel the pressure building up behind where his eyes used to be, in the little that remained of his sinuses, and he knew he would have shed a tear by then if he could have. Part of him wished that he could. The other part, the part that was holding a small, crying child in his arms, was relieved that he couldnât. He needed to be strong, and sure, and confident that things were going to turn out okay. He needed to do that for Meouch, even if he was barely able to do it for himself right now.
"Itâll be okay,â Havve said, his voice louder and more confident coming from his speakers than it couldâve possibly been if it had come from his aching lungs. âWeâll get you guys back to normal. Hell, even Phobosâs little crystal shard is working on him already. Youâll all be back to normal in no time,â he said. âAnd no matter what happens, we have each other. Iâll always be there for you guys. And I know youâll be there for me, too.â
âYeah,â Meouch said, and then trailed off. His mouth hung open like he wanted to say something more, but then he closed it and swallowed. It took him a moment to find his voice again, and when he spoke, he lifted his face away from Havveâs chest and looked up at him. âYou can say if youâre hurting, too. Your breathingâs all shallow, Havve, I can feel it.â
âMeouch⌠Iâm okay, really,â Havve said. He wiped under one of Meouchâs eyes with a finger, brushing a fresh tear away from the streaks of already-wet fur.
âYou just said that Iâm here for you, too,â Meouch huffed. âDonât lie to me. Iâm not just a kid, man. Iâm your friend, too.â
âI know you are,â Havve said. He felt something catch in his throat, something that maybe could have been a sob if he still had vocal chords to make the sound with. Running on long-forgotten instinct, his hand reached up under his mask and rubbed at one of his optics, as if that would relieve the pressure that was still building. âSeeing you cry like that, it just⌠I hate to see that. Makes me want to cry, too, even though I canât.â
And then Meouch did what only a child would do: he pulled Havveâs mask off of his face, gently and with both hands, and then wiped the imaginary tears under his eyes with his thumb. âItâs okay, Havve,â he said, and Havve couldâve sworn he felt something break in the 808 drum machine where his heart used to be. The pressure built up harder, and he blinked uselessly to try and fight it off. âItâs okay.â
âYâknow,â Havve said, his robotic voice calm and steady even as his breathing was shaky and quick and his shoulders quaked, âI can only think of one other time when I wished I wasnât a damn robot. You know what that was?â
âWhat?â
âAirport security,â he said, and then laughed a wet, shaky, electronically-tinged laugh. Meouch laughed too, the sad smile fighting its way onto his face. âHonestly, I like the way I am. Nine times out of ten, I wouldnât want to be any other way. And I used to think x-rays and metal detectors and the post-9/11 TSA were just the banes of my existence. And they still are. But itâs shit like this. Shit where my body wasnât built to handle having too many emotions inside of it. And god, since you three turned into kids?â He laughed again. âI swear, itâs like my Grinch heart grew three sizes and I have no place to put it all.â
Meouch smiled. âI heard being a dadâll do that to you,â he said, and then hugged Havve even tighter, resting his head in the crook of Havveâs neck. âWhen Sungâs bigger, you should ask him to fix that for you. To make more room for your heart.â
âThat is the cutest fucking thing Iâve ever heard,â Havve said, making Meouch burst out laughing. âNo, Iâm serious. That was such a triple-whammy. Each sentence was a one-hit KO. Why canât you be this cute all the time?â
âHmm, canât be this cute when youâre that sexy,â Meouch hummed, and it was Havveâs turn to laugh. It relieved a little bit of the pressure, and he almost felt like he could take a deep breath again. âOnce I get my mane back, itâs over for you fuckers. Cute adorable tiny Meouch will be no more, and sexy beast Meouch will reign supreme once again.â
Havve rested his head on Meouchâs shoulder, suddenly feeling exhausted. âThank you.â
âHey, no problem. Iâm the one who got you all upset in the first place, soâŚâ
âI think I was upset anyway. It was just hiding.â
âOh,â Meouch said gently. âThen⌠Youâre welcome. Wait, no, I should be thanking you! I was freaking out and now Iâm not! Howâd you do that?â
Havve chuckled, and they both knew he wouldâve smiled if he could. âSecret dad powers,â he said simply. Meouch looked up at him and beamed. âSpeaking of which, my dad powers are telling me that itâs way past your bedtime.â
âAww, come on, no itâs not!â Meouch whined. âWe were just getting somewhere! Câmon Havve, Iâm not even tired.â
âYou sure? Because Iâm spe-ent,â Havve chimed. He stood up, bringing Meouch with him, and started carrying him back towards the bunks. âI need to recharge, and you need to get some sleep.â
âFine,â Meouch said. His head was resting on Havveâs shoulder, and he was already quieting down. âI guess.â
Havve padded across the ship to Meouchâs room, and the door opened automatically as they got close. It was dark inside. Only Havveâs glowing red optics illuminated the space, showing off the piles of flannel shirts on the floor and the mess of charging cords by his bed. âYou need to clean in here,â Havve said, and Meouch only replied with a hum and a small nod. He had gone from energetic to almost-asleep in just a couple of minutes. Seemed like the crying had finally caught up to him. Havve laid him down in bed, pulling his covers up to his chin. Meouch rolled over onto his side, burying his face in his pillow, and was out before he could even say âgoodnight.â
Havve patted him on his head and tousled the small fluff of brown that was his mane. âSweet dreams, bud,â he said softly, his volume just a notch above muted. âEverythingâll be fine. I promise.â He adjusted the blankets once more, stood up, and left Meouchâs room as quietly as he could. âI promise.â

If Havve Hogan a robot built for murder and he spawned in Phil Collins toilet does that mean the unnamed robot lady from built for love spawned in Peter Gabriel's toilet?
Today's prompt was Earth, and its the prompt I was most looking forward to. Something about a group of travelers from across time and space settling down in 21st century Earth and loving it is just... really nice. And nothing is more Earth than a 2am post-show diner trip.
