Chaos Quintet

Rose still couldn’t believe she actually had a date. A date with Marlene. Marlene who was cute and witty and outgoing. Maybe this wasn’t really a date, and they were just two friends getting drinks? That made more sense logically and emotionally, but if that was the case she was maybe a little overdressed. Brose had been really disappointed she’d insisted on wearing long sleeves, but if it was a date date then showing off her pox scars seemed... a little brave, honestly. She was probably overthinking this.

Chewing on her lip, Rose knocked on the door. “Marlene? It’s me! Umm, it’s Rose.”

“Hope you’re all decent in there!” Patrick called, knocking on the side of the door. Seamus was strapped into his stroller, happily babbling and knocking a few of his soft blocks together. He hadn’t told Cooper the news yet, any of his news really. Definitely one piece that pertained specifically to his best friend. “Because I brought your favorite one-year-old!”

The move to the house Antonin had bought them was slow, happening in fits and starts as the world crumbled around them. It felt as though control of his place in the world was slipping from his hands slowly and surely. Walden hated it. 

“Please god tell me you have news that doesn’t involve death or some dark tragedy.” He told his friend as Alex approached. “Because I’m kind of full up on doom and despair.”

Walden; “If I wake up to her putting her goddamn cold hands on my back one more time I can’t be held responsible for my actions.”

Hana; “She’s attractive if you’re in to girls that can probably kill you. Which I normally am. Missed her window of opportunity though, sorry darling.”

They’d all been shaken up by the fire. She wasn’t sure she’d ever forget the unbelievable and overwhelming relief of holding Harriet in her arms after seeing the smoke. Even though hours had passed everything still felt raw. When it had become clear that Harriet wanted to go with Damocles, Val had offered to go and stay with King. She wasn’t even sure if he was home at that moment, she just needed to be with him, in his home. Where she knew she would be safe. She’d barely even packed a bag, just grabbed her cat and her toothbrush and apparated into his living room. She didn’t see him at first, and she could feel the shock finally settling in as she began to tremble. “King!” she called, her voice hoarse and shaking as her cat jumped down from her arms, “King are you here?!”
