Bette Davis was the only white performer who agreed to be part of Hattie McDaniel's performing troupe to entertain Black servicemen during WWII.

Hattie McDaniel made history as the first Black performer to win an Academy Award. She won Best Supporting Actress for GONE WITH THE WIND at the 12th Oscars on February 29, 1940. #Oscars Also pictured with Fay Bainter.

I like the idea of running the women's tournament again, but since we've already crowned Eartha Kitt the ultimate winner it seems a bit pointless. What do you all think?

This is systemic racism!! And don’t give me Hollywood is liberal!! Remember Josephine baker and other great Hollywood actors had to go overseas because of discrimination in Hollywood… never forget Hattie McDaniel had to get her Oscar from the back of the ceremony !!

Hattie McDaniel made history as the first African American to win an Academy Award for her role in Gone With the Wind. She also broke barriers by being the first black woman to sing on the radio in America. Beyond her acting and singing, McDaniel was a talented performer in minstrel shows and vaudeville, even working as a bathroom attendant at a club during the Great Depression.
