After the events of Transformers: Deviations, how was Optimus Prime able to deal with the Hate Plague without the Matrix Of Leadership?
Dear Anger Appraiser,
In the future of 2005, Optimus Prime and Megatron clashed for what would be the last time. The world was shaped by their deaths, and their subsequent rebirths. You wish to know the future of a world where things happened differently. In a world… where Optimus Prime never died!
It was the young Hot Rod who fell in his stead, sacrificing himself—and the Matrix of Leadership—to defeat the monster planet Unicron. Rodimus Prime never had the chance to lead the Autobots, and never grappled with his shame over Optimus’ death. The Autobot Mausoleum was never constructed. Optimus Prime’s body was never interred there, out of sight, behind the Veil of Remembrance. It was never sent into deep space, and never found by the Quintessons, who never exhumed his corpse, to engineer his dark awakening. The Matrix—destroyed so long ago—never stirred the fleeting remnants of his original personality, never prompting him to turn on the Quintessons. His body was never recovered, never repaired, never set adrift once more. The Hate Plague’s prison-sun never caught him in its gravity. Jessica Morgan never implored Gregory Swofford to help her retrieve Optimus Prime, never bringing them close enough to the eventual supernova to be infected by the hateful spores.
All’s well, it would seem, that ends well.
Unfortunately, fate is rarely so kind. The spores continued on their journey through the vacuum of space for centuries, undisturbed—until a temporo-spatial eddy, formed by two ships chasing each other through transwarp, guided a cloud of spores to a mysterious planet. The Hate Plague infected first the Maximals and Predacons, then all life on Earth—including the Autobots and Decepticons, comatose within the crashed Ark.
When Mount St. Hilary erupted in 1984, the already-infected Transformers awoke to a world where intelligent life had never evolved. They warred with each other ceaselessly, without regard for faction, until their energon reserves ran dry. Earth became a new tomb for the Hate Plague.
Those who had remained behind on the dying Cybertron never heard from their lost leaders again. They could never have imagined Pax Cybertronia uniting their embittered people once more. They never saw Unicron coming, and until their final moments, they never changed. There was no-one to remember Optimus and Megatron, who died at each other’s hands on a hateful alien world, and their names were never honored. The Golden Disk was never stolen—never even tasted by Unicron, never sent by humanity in the first place. The Maximals and Predacons never existed; their ships were never built, never crossed paths with that furious star, never carried the Hate Plague to their ancestors in stasis on that prehistoric world, who would go on to awake in 1984, and begin their war anew. And in the future of 2005, Optimus Prime and Megatron clashed for what would not be the last time. It never ends.
I watched from afar as history repeated itself, ripping scars across that misbegotten universe. Time would bend and yield, and then snap. But for all my power, there was naught I could do to bring closure to this tragedy. For if I was to intervene, I risked becoming infected myself—and by my nature, the Hate Plague would have a vector to spread across all of time and space. And so it lingers now, an infernal engine of suffering, quarantined in a distant corner of the multiverse.
Okay, so of all the Earthspark season 2 (or 3???) episodes I'd watch is I'd definitely watch the hate plague episode. Saw some fan art and it looks fun.
Just one thing: can someone confirm for me if Starscream appears in the episode at all? Cos I was genuinely that upset with what they did with him that I don't want to see a single clip of him post-season 1. So I'd only watch this episode if I know Starscream isn't in it, or if someone could give me the timestamps to skip any scenes he's in.
I am dead serious about this.
Remember in the last episodes of G1 season 3 when everyone got infected with that hate plague and Ultra Magnus saw this as his chance to finally beat the shit out of Roddy?
Because I do! xD
Tbh I didn’t really like those episodes at all, but those parts were really interesting to me, because it kinda feels like Ultra Magnus’ bottled up rage and frustration for Rodimus bullshit finally emerged xD

Mechanoids can often be said to be immune to the diseases that curse the existence of organic species, but it’s a little-stated fact that they’re vulnerable to other forms of viruses - specifically, the computer kind.
One such virus, at least in legend, cursed a clade of Cybertronians who were commonly considered in the modern day to be ‘primordial.’ said to be unleashed by Liege Maximo upon his final defeat, this viral program drove the techno-organic beings into a homicidal frenzy, causing many of them to rise from beneath the surface of Cybertron and lay waste to many subsects of Cybertronian society that were still recovering from the battles of the Schism, earning the infected Primordials the epithet of ‘Demons.’ Once infected, a victim’s ability to reason is completely deleted, making their destruction both a necessity and a mercy.
Today, such a virus has been lost to the ages, but the memory of the Demonic Wars, as faded as it is, made it impossible for the Cybertronians and Primordials to coexist peacefully on the same world. Thus, the Primordials were given a new world to call their own. Still, some infected Primordials survive on Cybertron, having retained just enough intellect to lie in wait for their next victim.
But where there is shadow, light shines somewhere close...

I just remembered about the Cosmic Rust thing and the Hate Plague that appeared in some of the Transformers cartoons, in SNAP will have something like this?
yes! season 2 episode 3 is an episode that has the Hate Plague, and while i don’t have the typical “infectious disease” form of Cosmic Rust, i’ve certainly got something similar
The Hate Plague was an epidemic that affected the Milky Way galaxy in early AD 2007.
Presumably due to contact and cooperation with the Autobots dating back to 1984, Earth was much more technologically advanced in this timeline and had interstellar space travel. Scientists Jessica Morgan and Gregory Swofford, while in a distant star system testing out a new heat resistant alloy, came upon a ship carrying the dead body of former Autobot leader Optimus Prime. Swofford was reluctant to comply with Morgan’s plan to rescue Prime’s body due to Swofford having been mildly disfigured years early when he was injured during a battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron; ultimately Swofford assisted Morgan in retrieving the Autobot’s cadaver.
The star Morgan and Swofford were observing went supernova and while their starship, the Solaris, was protected by its experimental alloy, the vessel was covered in an exotic type of spore released by the star’s detonation. The spores were soon discovered to be some type of extremely virulent and contagious pathogen that both conferred a fiery red glow upon those infected as well as instantly inducing psychopathic anger and hatred. Interestingly, the spores were able to infect both organic and machine-based lifeforms.
Eventually, the Hate Plague was cured by the resurrected Optimus Prime releasing the stored wisdom in the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. The precise mechanism of action by which the Matrix’s “wisdom” was able to both neutralize a seemingly physical pathogen and to travel faster than light to the various corners of the galaxy affected by the epidemic is uncertain.

Hate Plague
Laura wasn’t sure what had happened to Michael, but she didn’t like it. He had been acting odd, and moody, and generally... kind of an asshole. She thought she knew Michael, but was this ass... was this really him?
No matter what she tried [give him space, don’t give him space, try to work through whatever was wrong, not talking to him, trying the regular schedule, not doing the regular schedule], it all seemed to end with Michael shouting to leave him alone and him hiding in his room for days on end.
It worried her.
She tried to come up with a rational reason for this to be happening. Maybe he was going through something. Maybe he was just going through another phase of remembering what he couldn’t do and it pissing him off. Maybe he was going through some version of the Terrible-Twos. He was childlike and naive after The Cage, it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise ever.
But, that wasn’t to say that none of this hurt Laura. It all did, at least a little. Michael could still get really cruel when he wanted to be, and if she were being honest, it got to her. Like when he told her that he hated her, or that one time he had the nerve to say she was a disgrace, closer to sounding like old Michael than ever.
“Laura?”
Michael had been hiding away in his room again for a couple of days, again, and was now calling for her as she passed by his room to head downstairs.
“Yeah, Mikey?”
“Can you come here?”
It’s a trap.
It’s not a trap. /B
She opened the door and saw Michael sitting on his bed, surrounded in a messy room. Juice boxes on the floor, empty, clothes, notebooks, a toy or two, and other various stuff, just on the floor. Unless Laura reminded Michael to clean his room, he usually didn’t. She hadn’t reminded him to since this whole thing had begun.
“What’s going on, Michael?”
He held something out to her. It was a juice box. Not like the ones they had downstairs, just... a random one.
“Where did you get these?” She had to ask, taking it.
The Archangel shrugged. “They were on my desk.”
“Did you... Did you snap them up?”
He shook his head. “Nope.”
“... And when did this start?”
“Couple of week’s ago... why?”
That’s when this all started...
“Can I... Hey, Mike, I’m gonna get you a juice box from downstairs, okay? It’ll be colder, and so it’ll be better, I promise.”
Not a lie.
“Okay.”
Laura went downstairs. Just smelling the thing, not even opening it, she could tell that it had some sort of spell on it. Were these mysterious juice boxes the reason Michael was being a jerk lately?
She put it down on the counter, and got the Angel upstairs a box from the fridge before heading upstairs.
“Here you go,” she said, holding it out as she sat on the edge of the bed.
Michael took it with a small “Thank you,” and began opening it.
“Hey,” Laura said after a moment, “did you ever see who left the juice here?”
“No.”
“There was no note with it?”
He shook his head.
“Michael... Why would you drink juice from nowhere?”
He shrugged. “I thought I was doing it at first... It took a while to get that it wasn’t me, so then I thought it was you.”
She couldn’t even be mad at that. She knew how frustrated Michael got when he couldn’t use his Grace right.
He must have been so excited...
“Buddy... in the future, could you talk to me before eating or drinking things that just appear, please?”
“Okay... I’m sorry,” he said quietly.
It was the most Michael-like the Archangel had been in weeks... a step in the right direction.
