Lilia’s eyes fluttered and rolled, her body slumping to the side as the current holding her aloft suddenly died. Agatha could have easily let the older woman slide out of her chair and hit the floor out of pettiness for her earlier snark, but she caught her instead, easing her back upright without a word and returning to her seat. Roused by either the motion of Agatha’s repositioning or her body rebooting, Lilia blinked back to consciousness as if she hadn’t just had a close call with a cement floor.
“Back with me?” Agatha asked, arching an eyebrow.
“Back?”

Agatha froze, but Loki kept talking, walking slowly around the room as he did what the God of Mischief did best. Sew the seeds of a heist too tantalizing to ignore.
“It’s not the entire book, mind you. I could sense its presence but not its aura, which leads me to think she may have had a hand in destroying the original and subsequently all its duplicate copies across time-space. That’s the only explanation I have as to why your copy went up in flames. And the timelines match up too well to be ignored. She crashes, your house burns. Too much of a coincidence.”
