a/n: been a while and i missed youuuu

Even though you’ve been together long enough to know every detail about each other, your heart still seems to skip a beat when you see his message pop up on the screen.

You peered a little through your glazed bathroom window, adjusting the necklace wrapped around you. He’d given it to you on your last birthday, and hardly ever took it off.

There he was. Sat in his little yellow sports car, sunglasses on and one hand so nonchalantly on the wheel, and like always, the seat next to him empty just for you.

You quickly wrote back you were on your way down as you threw his cardigan - that you definitely “forgot” to return - over your dress.

As you opened your townhouse door, the blare of Funkadelic’s “I Call My Baby Pussycat” was impossibly loud. There was your boyfriend, jokingly shaking his head in the car to the song he clearly set beyond earths decible sound limit.

“Harry!” you laugh-shouted, waving your hands to turn it down. The psychedelic sound assault was something your elderly neighbors were likely to have sending them 6-feet under.

“What?” he mouthed exaggeratingly, pointing to his ears.

“Turn it down!” you said, now in a fit of laughter.

“I can’t hear you, baby. S’loud in this neighborhood, don’t know how y’live out here!”

He didn’t obey your requests until you were fully in the car.

“Yeah, well, some idiot likes to turn up his music in his souped up vintage car just to show off around here. Thinking of having him locked up.”

“Hm, well i’d love to meet him sometime. He sounds great”

“He is” you said, leaning across the seats to give him a kiss.

“Bet he’s got a really hot girlfriend too”

You rolled your eyes and shoved his shoulder. He gave you a small smile before turning his attention back to the road. Though his eyes were nearly hidden, you could just make out the little crinkles by his eyes he always got when he smiled.

He started up the car properly and pulled out of the spot.

“So, where are we headed?”

“Want to just drive today? Not really feeling like doing much today”

“Y’got all dressed up just to drive with me?”

“I’d get dressed up to pick up trash with you, H”

He grinned hard again.
