Funny way to describe Tony Hale's appearance.
My other favorite is from a short film where somebody said he looks like a wizard.
Interesting fun facts, reviews, and tips in filmmaking from watching Happythankyoumoreplease the reviewer also hates the many close-ups from the movie good notes sources: https://filmmakermagazine.com/6689-josh-radnor-%E2%80%9Chappythankyoumoreplease%E2%80%9D/ https://scriptshadow.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-good-script-can-become-bad-movie.html

FADE IN:
INT. LOCAL LIBRARY â EVENING
A small, warmly lit community library. Folding chairs filled with people. At the front sits SAM WEXLER (early 40s now), shaggy hair tamed but still boyish, reading from a book of short stories. A banner behind him:
AUTHOR READING SERIES.
Sam closes the book gently. The AUDIENCE claps. The HOST smiles beside him.
HOST
Thank you, Sam. Letâs take a few questions.
A READER in the crowd raises her hand, curious.
READER
I loved the story about Amelia and Mason. They seemed⌠like such a cute pair. Do they ever get back together?
The room chuckles. Sam leans forward, thinking. He smiles wryly.
SAM
You know, thatâs really up to the imagination of the reader.
(beat)
Sometimes the best stories⌠donât finish neatly.
A few nods and murmurs of agreement ripple through the crowd.
The HOST thanks the audience.
HOST
And letâs thank again⌠Sam Wexler.
Applause. Sam waves, a little bashful.
As the crowd disperses, Sam checks his phone. A TEXT glows:
**ANNIE: Donât forget dinner tonight. 7 sharp.**
Sam smiles to himself, tucks the phone away.
CUT TO:
EXT. LIBRARY â NIGHT
The door closes behind Sam. A handmade paper sign taped to the glass door flaps slightly in the wind. It reads:
**MORE, PLEASE**
TITLE CARD: *MORE, PLEASE* superimpose over the library building
MUSIC begins (warm indie acoustic, echoing the vibe of the original film).
MONTAGE â INTRO CREDITS
-- **LOS ANGELES** â CHARLIE and MARY CATHERINE, now married with two kids, wrangle them into a car stuffed with snacks, pillows, and toys. They exchange exasperated but affectionate looks as they embark on a cross-country ROADTRIP.
-- **NEW YORK CITY** â SAMUEL (formerly âSam #2â), mid-40s, sharp in a suit, sits in a CLIENT MEETING. His briefcase opens â inside, tucked between folders, a crumpled sticky note in Annieâs handwriting: *Love you. Donât forget to breathe.* He softens, tucks it carefully into his wallet.
-- Samuel politely waves off co-workers inviting him for a drink, rushing instead down the subway stairs.
-- At HOME, ANNIE pipes icing onto a small cake, concentration tongue-out. We only see glimpses of the words sheâs writing. She hums along to faint music.
-- **ON THE ROAD** â Mary Catherineâs kids scream in the backseat. She pulls out silly faces and snacks, calming them down while CHARLIE mutters at the GPS, missing a turn. They laugh through the chaos.
-- **NEW YORK APARTMENT** â Sam carefully wraps copies of his book in brown paper, scribbling notes on sticky tabs: *For Annie*, *For Samuel*, *For Charlie + MC*.
On his laptop screen, *Spotify* plays MISSISSIPPIâs music. He stares at her album cover, smiling softly, nostalgic.
-- Back in Annieâs kitchen, she slides the finished cake into a box. The icing now clear: **FRIENDSâ NIGHT.**
MUSIC swells.
The camera floats across the city skyline at dusk. Lights flicker on. Life hums.
FADE TO BLACK.
FADE IN:
EXT. BROOKLYN BROWNSTONE â AFTERNOON
A moving car idles to a stop. CHARLIE and MARY CATHERINE climb out, road-weary but smiling. Their TWO YOUNG KIDS groggily spill from the backseat, whining and cranky.
INT. SAMUEL AND ANNIEâS BROWNSTONE â CONTINUOUS
The front door swings open. ANNIE greets them with open arms. The kids drag their stuffed animals inside.
MARY CATHERINE
(looking around, impressed)
Wow. This place is beautiful.
CHARLIE
(whistles)
Not bad, Sam #2.
SAMUEL (early 40s now), still in shirt sleeves from work, shrugs modestly.Â
MARY CATHERINE
(to Annie, teasing)
Youâre a lucky girl.
CHARLIE shoots Mary Catherine a side-eye â like, *arenât you lucky too?* But he swallows it, lets it go.Â
MARY CATHERINE
(after leading the kids upstairs for a nap)
Two empty bedrooms, huh? Planning on filling those?
ANNIE blushes, Samuel clears his throat, changing the subject.Â
CUT TO:Â
EXT. NEW YORK STREET â LATE AFTERNOON
SAM strolls aimlessly, book bag slung over his shoulder. He pauses at a large POSTER plastered on a music venue wall:Â
**MISSISSIPPI â COMING SOON**Â
Sam stops dead. A worker sweeps outside
SAM
Whenâs the show?
WORKER
Donât know. Tease poster. Theyâll announce soon.
Sam stares at the poster, lost in memory. A faint smile creeps across his face.Â
CUT TO:Â
INT. BROWNSTONE â EARLY EVENING
The doorbell. ANNIE opens it to reveal SAM, clutching a BAG of his books, a BOTTLE of wine, and a PIE.Â
ANNIE
There he is! Always bearing gifts.
SAM
Just trying to earn my seat at the table.
They hug warmly.Â
DINNER SEQUENCE â VARIOUS SHOTSÂ
-- Everyone squeezed around a big dining table, food steaming, wine poured.Â
-- The kids babble, interrupting with nonsense jokes.Â
-- Charlie and Mary Catherine swap road trip horror stories, the table cracking up.Â
-- Samuel politely talks with the children for the tired parents, paying attention to their stories, humoring them on their own corner of the table. Annie takes notice and smiles.
The mood is cozy, chaotic, like family.Â
AFTER DINNER â LIVING ROOM
The kids are tucked into bed upstairs. The adults lounge in the living room with wine glasses, plates of dessert.Â
Sam sits on the center armchair., book in hand. The two couples sit on their own side of the couch. Annie leans against Samuelâs shoulder, content. Mary Catherine and Charlie curl together on the other side.
SAM (CONTâD)Â
(reading)Â
âShe sang like the city itself â messy, loud, impossible to ignore.Â
And when she left, the silence she left behind was somehow louder.Â
But I kept listening anyway, hoping one day the song would start again.âÂ
A silence falls. Annie glances at Sam knowingly, then down at her glass of wine, hiding a small smile.Â
INT. BROWNSTONE â HALLWAY â MIDNIGHT
The house is dark, quiet. A clock ticks softly somewhere. ANNIE, in pajamas, pads down the hall with a half-full water glass. She notices a sliver of light spilling from SAMâs guest room.Â
The door is cracked. Inside, Sam sits hunched at a desk, scribbling into a notebook.Â
Annie knocks gently.Â
ANNIE
Hey⌠youâre still awake working?
Sam looks up, sheepish, caught.Â
SAM
Sorry. You know⌠writerâs mind. Doesnât shut off.
Annie smiles faintly, gestures if she can come in. Sam waves her in.Â
INT. GUEST ROOM â CONTINUOUSÂ
Annie sits on the edge of the bed, glass in hand. Sam sets his pen down, rubbing his eyes.Â
ANNIE
So⌠was that new story about⌠you know
Sam looks up at the ceiling, searching.Â
SAM
Uh⌠no.
Annie gives him a *come on, donât lie to me* look.Â
Sam exhales, leans back in his chair.Â
SAM (CONTâD)
Look, Iâm fine, okay? Anyway, it⌠it resulted in another good story. So⌠thatâs something.
Annie tilts her head, soft but firm.Â
ANNIE
You need another muse, Sam.
(beat)
Howâs dating?
Sam lets out a short laugh â part amusement, part discomfort.Â
SAM
Dating? Yeah, well⌠letâs just say the stories are coming faster than the second dates.
Annie chuckles, but her eyes stay on him, serious underneath.
ANNIE
You canât just keep writing about ghosts, Sam.
(beat)
You deserve someone real. Someone here.
Sam absorbs this. He looks at Annie, vulnerable for a flicker, then hides it with a crooked grin.Â
SAM
Well, if you find her, send her my way.
Annie smiles softly, squeezes his shoulder on her way out.Â
ANNIE
Get some sleep, writer.
She exits. Sam sits back, staring at his notebook â torn between inspiration and loneliness.
EXT. CENTRAL PARK ZOO â SUNDAY AFTERNOON
The group strolls through the bustling zoo. Children squeal at animals; parents chase after them.Â
Up ahead, SAMUEL has two of CHARLIE & MARY CATHERINEâs kids clambering over him â one on his shoulders, one holding his hand. He points at the monkeys, making faces. The kids laugh hysterically.Â
CHARLIE
(holding hands with MC, walking with ANNIE and SAM)
I always forget Samuelâs such a cool dude.
(to MC)
I think we found our next babysitter. Too bad he lives in NYC.
MC chuckles, then glances at Annie.
MC
Heâd be a great father. Are you guys⌠you knowâŚ
ANNIE
Honestly, yeah. Weâre thinking about it. But⌠with our agesâ
CHARLIE
You know we had them by accident. Always by accident.
MC playfully smacks his arm.
MC
Itâs supposed to be a secret!
CHARLIE
What? Sam already spilled it to our friends and family in one of his stories.
SAM
(defensive, amused)
Yeah, but nobody knew it until you pointed it out.
They all laugh lightly â except ANNIE, who bites her lip, uneasy.
Sam notices.
SAM (CONTâD)
You okay, A?
ANNIE
Yeah⌠I meanâactually, my parents and his parents keep wondering why we donât have kids yet. After six years of marriage, itâs kind of stressful.
MC
Oh, Annie, Iâm sorry.
ANNIE
Oh, itâs fine. Like, you only asked once. But everyone elseâŚ
(beat, a little raw)
Weâre trying. Actually⌠weâre trying.
MCâs eyes widen with sympathy.
MC
Oh my god.
ANNIE
But itâs fine, weâre fine. Weâre figuring it out. Besides⌠I keep reminding ourselves we should enjoy the quiet times. Because I know once we have kidsâor a kidâitâs gonna be a roller coaster.
MC
Yeah. Exactly.
CHARLIE
Word.
They chuckle at his delivery. Up ahead, Samuel and the kids wave, calling them to hurry. Annie watches her husband laughing with the children, her face a complicated mix of love, longing, and anxiety. Â
INT. SAMUEL & ANNIEâS KITCHEN â NIGHTÂ
MARY CATHERINE pokes her head in.Â
MCÂ
Hey⌠uhm⌠whatâs so funny?Â
ANNIEÂ
Oh, nothing. Samuel just made a joke.Â
MCÂ
Oh, okay. Guys, thank you so much for babysitting. Weâre gonna have so much fun tonight.Â
(to Annie, teasing)Â
And I promise youâSamâs gonna find a girl tonight. We have a plan, donât worry.Â
SAMUELÂ
(confused)Â
A plan?Â
CUT TO:Â
EXT. SAMUEL & ANNIEâS BROWNSTONE â NIGHTÂ
Annie walks Mary Catherine and CHARLIE down the steps.Â
ANNIEÂ
Have fun, guys!Â
MC/CHARLIEÂ
Bye!Â
CHARLIEÂ
Call us if you have problems with the kids.Â
They wave, heading off. Annie watches them go, smiling.Â
CUT TO:Â
EXT. COMMUNITY CENTER â NIGHTÂ
SAM stands outside, checking his phone, waiting. A WOMAN in all-black attire exits and notices him.Â
WOMANÂ
Hey, are you here for the cooking class?Â
SAMÂ
Uh, yeah. Just waiting for my friends.Â
WOMANÂ
You can wait inside. Weâre actually serving wine and cheeses.Â
SAMÂ
(shrugs, smiles)Â
Okay.Â
He follows her inside.Â
CUT TO:Â
INT. SAMUEL & ANNIEâS LIVING ROOM â NIGHTÂ
The kids are sprawled on the couch with ANNIE and SAMUEL, watching a heartfelt animated movie.Â
One CHILD leans against Annieâs side, cuddling into her. Annie stiffens, caught off guard.Â
SAMUEL notices. He smiles at her, proudâlike, *âSee? The kids like you.â*Â
Annie forces a small smile back and awkwardly pets the childâs head.Â
Samuelâs smile falters. A flicker of thought crosses his faceâsomething heavier, unspoken.Â
@batboybisexualism feel free to reply to this if you have watched the whole movie and tell me your thoughts! Thaanks!
