“I’m sure you did...” Ward trailed off, looking at her with a frown. “You remind me of someone I use to know.”

“I know you will, it’s in your nature. You’re a fighter, but you’re not allowed to go before me. I’d rather die protecting you then see you die, is that clear?” Ward raised an eyebrow at them, mask completely gone.

With a hand pressed firmly onto a stab wound on his stomach, Ward stumbled up to the first door he could find not barred by a gate. Leaning on the wall next to it, he weakly knocked before the pain shooting through his torso made his hand drop and wrap around the wound for extra pressure. “Anyone in there?”

"Are you HYDRA or a kid wearing shoes that are too big for you?" Ward asked, watching him with an unamused expression.

"Don't shoot," Ward said, taking a couple steps away from her. "It's been a long time, Lucky. I'm guessing people told you stories about what I did."

"Captain," Ward said with a nod, watching the American hero. "Is there a particular reason for you being here?"

"How were your classes?" Ward asked when he saw her, leaning up against a wall in Operations. He'd returned from a lecture at another Academy, and decided to greet her with that. "Is Ops suiting your style?"

"Well if it isn't Clint Barton," Ward commented, leaning up against a wall with one of his arms pressed tightly against his side. "I though all the S.H.I.E.L.D. Avengers were hiding behind Stark."
