Today is taekwondo day! I will confess--I have always preferred practicing hapkido, but I get the best possible physical exercise workout from taekwondo. Even just the warmups tend to leave me breathing hard enough to see spots (which reminds me--time to drink more water).
Last class we talked about foot position for kicks, and our instructor described it was having your foot pointed but your toes pulled back. Ballet helps me understand the mechanics (it's a relevé except in the air!) and if I can do anything it's point my foot but I can't seem to keep my pinky toe from splaying off to the side like a wayward lost sheep.
Lost piggy?
Tuesday I startĀ HanMuDo. I am so excited I can't express it. It's a really small class, but I watched this week and they did rolling falls and wrist locks and armbars and IĀ missedĀ it. It will be...frustrating, I think, to start over as a white belt in something so familiar to Hapkido but since martial arts is about discipline inĀ allĀ senses, I know it'll be good for me. And let's face it--it flat out just looked likeĀ fun.
