Figuring out where to put the handles on my Quiet books.. took some thought. Honestly, I started with them on the binding side, tried a loop off the binding and even considered handles at the top like so many others have done. Turns out, the best spot is on the opening side because any loose parts fall towards the center of the book and get held in place by the friction of the felt! I’m a bit of a 🤓 about things like that, great design can solve problems, and I love the challenge! Thanks to everyone who voted on my story poll about the loose parts yesterday. The answer was a resounding NO for loose parts, so going forward I will design more pages without loose parts! One of the wonderful things about creating things in small batches is that you can made small improvements along the way. For me, each batch I make, is an opportunity to make improvements. Like the new (and improved) Mermaid Sequins pages! I found a way to create this new yellow frame, and, the big bonus is that it makes the sequins flip more easily, and feel softer under your hand. It always was a fun page to play with and now its even more amazing.
