I haven’t done a #WeirdassWednesday in a while, so here are two very weird and cool little #Hammertone #Octave12 models by #FBass spotted at @capsulemusic #Toronto. These instruments are like #mandolins, but tuned E to E like a 12 string #guitar (one octave higher) and as the #CapsuleMusic website describes it, they produce a “wonderful, shimmering chime”. With those single coil pickups I can imagine a sound like a #Fender #ElectricXII with a capo at the 12th fret! The name Hammertone is a nod to the city in which they are built - #Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, affectionately known as “#TheHammer” to residents and neighbouring well-wishers. 😀. detail shots of #137 from back in May. It’s a rather unique HUDSON with oversize tubing and a threadless 1 1/8” stem. It’s also set up with 2x gearing, which I don’t do that often. The hammertone green/gold finish is truly the icing on the full custom cake. There was a long production delay on the stainless rear rack and it finally came in a few weeks ago.
