Last Saturday I gave a shot at making a different style of knife I'd never tried making before. Last picture is before the final touches.

The heart and soul of Three Rivers Forge.
I got myself to the forge for the first time in years and it felt so good! 3 hours of forging, just getting back to the basics. Forged out some stakes for my new tent. Put blisters on both hands and it was probably the best therapy. #TheLARPGuy #Larper #LarpersOfInstagram #Larping #Larp #Lrp #rolenvivo #Blacksmith #Blacksmithing #HammerAndAnvil #Forge #Forging #Handmade #Crafting #IGotBlistersOnMeFingers #MyTypeOfTherapy https://www.instagram.com/p/B2jmSD3nXYV/?igshid=4xgcml7xhjbg
Forged out one of my #railspike #axes today. Planning, preparation and precise hammer blows make for a beautiful piece. Stay patient and keep forging. #thepxsmith #forgedinfire #knifeordeath #greatkilnsgroovyprices #kilnfrog #kilnacademy #heatbeatrepeat #forgedwithfire #hammerandanvil #kilnenvy #heattreatoven #blacksmithlove (at Iron Mountain Metal Craft)
Started work on a few spike hangers for pounding into trees. Didn't get as far as I wanted to since it gets dark so early this time of year.

Finished up putting the antler handle on the bottle opener for my sister. Practiced making curls and made it into a keychain. Also made a bottle opener that can be nailed to a wall. Had to upset the end to make the wide bill. First time using upsetting in something I've made.
And the results are in from testing the prototype axe. What was learned is that it is effective in splitting wood. Even hardwood thicker than a size 13 boot. But due to the design of the edge, it has a spring to it that takes away from it's chopping ability. Bending the bottom of the blade back to touch the handle should solve that. Will also have to shorten the handle and put a twist in it for better grip.
The prototype axe I made yesterday was picked up tonight for testing. Can't wait to hear the results!
