I cinque o sei gradini che portavano nella casa di nonna erano la seduta più comoda per poterla guardare, e dopo che il sole tramontava il marmo diventava addirittura fresco.

Papà era spesso in cantina a sistemare le canne per la pesca del giorno successivo, mamma beveva caffè con la nonna. Mio fratello aveva 3 anni e non so con cosa si occupasse in quei momenti.

Io stavo lì - ricordo - ad osservarne la coda luminosa, e mi sembrava una cosa tanto grande, tanto lontana, tanto magica. Forse nonna aveva già piantato l'acero giapponese nell'aiuola di fronte? O forse no. È un dettaglio che mi sfugge.
