Y'know what have some worldbuilding I'm working on, written in the pov of one of its protagonists
It might be a lil confusing but I hope you can follow along :3
Right under cut !
The scariest part of exploring a Nest is not the scary monsters that might pop out of every corner, nor is it the gangs and raiders that get in looking for loot.
It's the environment itself. Horrible liminal spaces that shape and warp the original area into something unrecognizable.
The smaller ones don't really move much from where they appear, the medium sized ones are the type you should look out for the most. They move around like a hurricane but are erratic and unpredictable, though some have a sort of preference on the places they travel to. For example, the Roadblock Nest, it's named that because it has consistently only moved from lone road to lone road and staying for about a week before moving on to a different one. It's particularly dangerous because there's a high likelihood of death if you go in without prior knowledge of its inner workings, even with an armored truck.
The Roadblock Nest usually takes the form of a long road on the inside, there's always a heavy fog around it that both smothers fire and conceals what's beyond the road, making you only able to see about 5 feet ahead even with headlights.
There are 3 rules you need to follow while inside the Nest.
1. Never look up.
2. Don't go off the road.
3. The sun is always waning.
[note]: Redundant. Not sure what that even means exactly.
[original source]: "Survival Guide to Your Local Nests Vol.2" (1972) [its original author has been arrested for tax evasion, bribery, and embezzlement. not a reliable source.]
3. Always have enough gas before entering. [Not exactly a rule, just common sense. It's much harder to make it through the Nest on foot than with a vehicle.]
It might take up to an hour to make it to the other side, so it's not recommended to take that route. Even raiders won't usually go into it as there's not much you can find that would be of significant worth, unless they're scummy enough to carjack those that pass through.
That's all for today, stay safe out there.
