I love Gates so much. He tells Billy to restrain Flint when they go to see Richard Guthrie and they come back to the ship with him kidnapped, bleeding, half dead, and Gates doesn’t even ask what happened. Oh Jesus he says like ‘I knew it wasn’t going to go well but damn it went worse than I ever thought it could’. Would never ever consider blaming Billy, he knows his little meow meow is uncontrollable. 10/10 character, he deserved better
