It was silly. You knew it, and yet you loved it.
Haechan had this way of getting jealous that you couldn't take seriously. It was never with anger or complaints, but with little gestures, lingering glances, and comments that made you laugh more than they should have. He swears he's serious, he swears he's intimidating. He's not.
That afternoon, for example, you went to pick him up from the practice room, where he was rehearsing a choreography. You were a little lost with one step, so one of the guys came over to say hello. He innocently put his hands on your arms, and as soon as he did, you felt that familiar gaze from the mirror.
Haechan stopped dancing, but didn't say anything. He just watched them silently, leaning against the wall, arms crossed and a very, very fake smile on his lips. When the boy walked away, he took a couple of steps toward you, as if he hadn't planned it in advance, and commented quite naturally:
“I don't think that's how you greet someone.” And before you could respond, he was already reenacting the scene himself, his hands gently guiding yours, his voice in a low tone he didn't use with anyone else. “Like this. Closer.”
You looked at him, raising an eyebrow.
“Jealous, maybe?” He let out a short laugh, tapping you on the forehead. “Please, I'm the most mature one here.” But he didn't let go of you until he was sure the guy saw him.
Later, when they left the place, he handed you a bottle of water with the lamest excuse in the world.
“Here, I saw you were tired.” “You saw me talking to someone for three minutes,” you replied with a laugh as you drank. “Exactly. That's tiring,” he replied with a satisfied smile that he didn't try to hide.
That night, when you were about to go to bed in your shared bed, he said something you didn't expect, as he doesn't usually admit when he's jealous.
“I don't like it when you laugh so much with others, and they're so close to you. I like it when you're with me.”
You laughed.
“What does that mean?” you asked, and when you saw him the next day, he still had that half-jealous, half-charming smile that only he could have.
And you thought that if that was what having a slightly jealous boyfriend was like, then you didn't mind at all.
