So feast your eyes on this fella whom I excavated today from my the bowels of my storage unit.

This is the Hasbro 1:6-scale (12 inch) Green Lantern from their JLA line circa 1998.  There were only five 1:6-scale figures made in this line: Aquaman, the Flash, Martian Manhunter, Superman Blue, and Kyle here.

In addition to the difference in size, the 1:6-scale figures were fare superior to their 1:12-scale (6 inch) counterparts. 

The first noticeable difference being the better figure sculpts and more realistic body proportions (although, since it wad the ‘90s, Kyle does have a grimace).

The second difference is the 1:6-scale figures have cloth costumes.  Kyle’s here needs a wash; the white area of the costume has become yellowed with age.

However, the costume is sewn on, and I don’t think that Green Lantern emblem would survive a trip to the washing machine.  So I’ll try a Tide pen and see if the white part of the costume brightens up.

The third difference is that the 1:6-scale figures are well articulated and possible (check some of my posts from October to see how unposeable the 1:12-scale figures are).

The joints are stiff and actually have a ratchet-like movement, which helps them hold a pose better.

Besides the nifty lantern for recharging his power ring, Kyle was also equipped with a cool-looking green machine gun with ammo belt.  I saw both at the bottom of the box Kyle was in, but didn’t dig them out for the photos.

I would love to see a new line of cloth costumed, AFFORDABLE 1:6-scale DC characters again, like Hasbro did with this line.  I think they would be great for collectors for whom the current crop of 1:6-scale figures is prohibitively expensive.
