Yunno sometimes there’s really good movie adaptations like for PHM but rare is one that angers me more then the Enola Holmes one. “Wait there’s a book?” I KNOW. Don’t get me wrong objectively it is a great movie and while watching it Im like Yeah Ok, and by god I didn’t know I needed a Milly Bobby Brown Enola, but for God’s sake wtf. I read the series ages ago but it still strikes me as one of the best ones I’ve ever read, and a big part is the feminist themes. Yes the movie is feminist, but compared to the book? Amateurs. In the book the guy she’s searching for is like a 14 year old guy fucking annoying, she saves him and goes on with her life. Then, I see the movie, and MY GIRL FUCKING FALLS IN LOVE???? Then I learn in the next movie it looks like SHE’S GETTING MARRIED??????? Enola is like the modern amazon she wants to run from her brothers find her mom and prove she’s smarter than them. Ho God and they make her be saved by Sherlock???? Please she saved him (i think that’s movie two’s plot). Ho and don’t get me going on wtf is her mother doing there that would spoil stuff. BUT WHY IS SHE HERE SHES SUPPOSED TO BE ALONE ALONE ALONE ALONE ITS IN HER NAME. She doesn’t need her mother’s approval. She doesn’t need her brother’s help. SHE DOESN’T NEED. A. MAN.
Anyway, great movie, terrible movie adaptation, fabulous incredible serie, nothing makes me aggressive like this I am taking it slightly seriously, but I hate that I try to talk about her and they’re like “ha yes great movie” NO NOT THE SAME SHIT DUDE
