The last time i saw a gyno they kept asking if I had a boyfriend/girlfriend. wich i assume was a sex related question, but they did not ask that??
(i stopped seeing her a while ago but i have to see a gynocologist again because the same problem got worse on norethisterone and T which stopped my period but not the pain)
any ideas why she would ask me that multiple times?
what should i do if the new gyno asks me that?
should I mention that I masturbate at all or are they not asking that?
Typically, it's a allocishetnormative way of them trying to find out what type of sex you're having and what they should be testing you for. It could also be a weird way of hitting on you but usually, it's just a shitty roundabout way of asking what type of sex you've been having or plan on having.
Ideally, they would just ask you "Have you/do you plan on having (X type of sex)? Do you want to get tested for (X type of STI)?" but unfortunately, lots of doctors suck.
If your new gyno asks you that, ask them why they need to know. Ask them if this is just their way of asking what type of sex you have or something similar, make sure they clarify what they mean exactly so that you can get what you need out of an appointment you are paying them for.
(You could also remind them that question is based on bigoted ideals and its actually none of their business who you're dating when they could just ask more specific questions but you don't have to do that, I'm just saying you would be well within your rights to.)
As for masturbation, they generally don't mean that! But you can always ask them, it never hurts to be sure.
Hope this helps, Anon! Wishing you luck. 💖
