Hereās my painting for the first day of @gestral-village summer challenge (Fruit/Snack/Ice). Due to time constraints, I wonāt be participating every day. I hope thatās okay anyway! Mixed media (mostly watercolor) on an A5 sketchbook.

I donāt want to lie to you about how I went about creating this particular painting. The truth is, I donāt have the skills to draw "such complex" scenes freehand. So hereās how I did it:
Photo 1. Using a free online tool, I placed the different elements in a 3D scene, as shown in the picture
Photo 2. Then, because I was lazy, I used an app on my phone to help me transfer this āguideā scene onto my sketchbook. Okay, it looks terrible, but the goal is to get the placement of the different elements right! I rarely use this tool, but this time I wanted to save some time.
Photo 3. At this stage, I switch completely to freehand: I use the guides to help me draw the characters and the rest.
Photo 4. Finally, I move on to color. Hereās what it looks like after the first day of watercolor, before I started using ink pens, acrylic markers, and colored pencilsā¦ Itās pretty demotivating, as always, but youāve got to hang in there xD And Iāll admit I was in experimental mode on this drawingāI was just trying random things out; I had no idea what I was doing š
As usual, I used an old DSLR to take the final photo (not the WIPs), which always comes out a bit blurry because the lenses are really old, but I prefer the look of these photos to the ones taken with my phoneā¦

It had been one of those ideas thrown in for shits and giggles, just a random 2 AM thought that everyone should have forgotten about the next day. Because when you're a group of seven friends, no idea ever makes it out of the group chat successfully.
Until now.
Which is how they find themselves on a honest-to-God camping trip to the CĆ“te d'Azur, ready for some sun, sea and fun.
